We are looking to stay on the Gulf for a couple days along with a few days in the parks. We're thinking Clearwater Beach but open to suggestions. Usually we stay at Longboat Key, but we thought we'd avoid travelling over the bridge to make the commute a little quicker.

I'm looking for a beachfront hotel with a nice beach, sandbar to wade out to and walk on, pool...family friendly and preferably with rooms that will sleep 5. I would do either a traditional big hotel or something more like condos with efficiencies and more of an open grounds. We'd only be there for 2 nights. Just enough to have some fun on the beach and rest to counter our busy park days.

Thanks...
Jess

We love Clearwater beach - stayed there 2x last year. Great beach and fabulous restaurants. We stayed 7 nights at the Marriott on Sand key and 4 nights at the Hilton which is right on the lovely sandy beach. Both the hotels are super but only the Hilton is on the beach. Very kid friendly - enjoy your trip!!!:beach:

The only place I've stayed on the gulf was the Don Cesar Hotel, which was wonderful. We stayed at the suites- they were large, condo-style units. If I remember right was a free shuttle to bring you to the main hotel hotel. It was a beautiful place and the beach was awesome. Can't remember if there was a sand bar, but the water is shallow pretty far out.
