My wife and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary by taking the 7-day cruise, leaving 5-15-04. I am thinking about taking my guitar. I love playing, although I'm not that good. Since we will have a veranda, I thought it would be neat to be able to play there in the morning, or evenings. Anyone ever taken their guitar, or wished they had?

My husband is in a local cover band that plays every weekend and we take his guitar most places. But, we opted not to take it on the cruise when we went on a 4-day in September. For one, even though his acoustic is kind of "beat-around-able" (LOL, I'm just making up my own words now!) it is still cumbersome to carry to and fro and we'd hate for it to be mishandled. And, quite frankly, we didn't have much time for it. Granted, we did not have a verandah, but I understand that the privacy is not that great so your neighbors may not be too pleased. Plus, that salty air and wind would be murder on the tone!

I'll admit, it did kill him to see the band play and then not have something to tinker with back at the room, but it didn't take long before we were involved in something other activity to keep our minds off his guitar.

Now, a ukelale may be another story!
:p

Seeing as I'm not going to be on your cruise go ahead :)
Now if I were in the room beside you I wouldn't be overly impressed. You CAN hear nearly everything from the adjoining verandahs and you readily admit you're "not that good". ;)

Cheers,
Grumbo

While I'll assume you're quite talented, (Oops! Even you say that you're not!) I wouldn't want to have the room (and veranda) next to you if you were playing in the morning or evenings.

I will be on that cruise!!! Not to offend you, but I don't want someone playing an instrument in the morning or evening.

What is your cabin number?? :teeth:

Nope. but I would be wishing the person with the verandah next to mine left theirs home!

I would not want to be next to anyone playing any kind of musical instrument on their verandah. I love to sit out there, enjoy the peace and quiet and hear the waves as the ships cuts through the water.

My $.02 worth.......... leave it at home.

My vote also would be to leave it at home - only for the fact that it may bother your neighbors. - Mike

We are on that same cruise--what is your cabin number??????????????

Leave the guitar at home...mainly because I'm also on that cruise and I know I wouldn't appreciate it if the music was coming from my verandah neighbor. :teeth: Secondly, that has got to be a major PITA to schlep around through the airport and onto the ship.
