Hi everyone,
Anyone has guitar hero game? My DD wants one, but I do not know if I will be able to take it, after all it is loud. Any experiences, bad, good. Please help.

I HIGHLY recommend "Band Hero," which is Guitar Hero's latest release for a family-friendly game! It has a fun, familiar list of songs, the latest wireless instruments, and includes fun pop stars as playable characters, including Taylor Swift and Gwen Stefani. Our family loved playing it together on our Nintendo Wii!

All of the Band Hero instruments are also fully compatible with our new "Beatles RockBand" game, so it was win-win!

Plus, with Band Hero, you don't have to worry about bad language issues or visuals that are in any of the regular Guitar hero games. That could also affect your decision.

I have Guitar Hero (as well as Rock Band) and I love it. However, some of the lyrics of the songs might not be appropriate for younger kids. I haven't played Band Hero but I have heard that it is much more family friendly. The Beatles and Lego Rock Band games are also much more family friendly than the regular Guitar Hero or Rock Band games.

You also need to figure out why she wants it. Does she just want to play the guitar parts? If so, any of the Guitar Hero, Rock Band, or Band Hero games would work. But if she wants to play drums or sing, then the only Guitar Hero games that are options are Guitar Hero: World Tour or Guitar Hero 5. Rock Band or Band Hero would work as well.

As for being loud. . . well, they are as loud as you want them to be. We do tend to turn our TV volume up pretty high while we are playing, but you don't have to. The game is much easier when you can hear the music well, so I'd expect that most people probably do keep it fairly loud while playing.

How old is your DD? Has she ever played Guitar Hero at a friend's house? Is she asking just for a Guitar Hero game or is she asking for the whole band kit?

If she is just asking for the Guitar Hero game, I would consider going with a bundle like this that just has the guitar and game.

That way she can try it out and you can see how much she will really use it and enjoy it, before you spend the money on a whole band kit (which also takes up a lot of room)

Guitar Hero is very fun and it is the one video game I play with my DS11 (we have 2 guitars).

My DD is 17, her friend got one and she likes to play it. She actually playing real guitar, she is in school band, but I figured Guitar hero is not really about real playing. We have PS2, pretty old, I know but Wii is out of questions now. I did not talk to her about different instruments, I actually assumed guitar because it was in game name, I will talk to her maybe drums would be more intersting since she already have a real guitar. Thanks for inputs. Keep them coming, thanks.

With respect to the bad language, they bleep out "whiskey" in American Pie, and "gin" in Honky Tonk Women, but leave in references to being drunk, and leave in the word "d--n" in Bad Reputation. So Band Hero and I disagree on what words I'd edit.

DD6 is a fan of American Pie, which she sings along to on the radio. "Mom! They left out the whiskey!"

OP, we've got Band Hero, Beatles RockBand, and 3 of the Guitar Hero versions. If it were me, I'd look at the song lists and pick by that. And yes, it is *loud.* I'm not a fan of loud, and when I turn it down, I get complaints that it's not loud enough to hear the beat to get the timing right. So it mostly gets played when everyone is in the mood to play. More fun as a whole-family game, anyhow.

If the playlists don't make any particular version a winner, I'd go with Band Hero. It seems more like it's meant for casual messing around and having fun.

Thanks everyone, I just got Guitar Hero 3 with guitar set for $20, I cannot believe it was that cheap, some sale I assume. I went to Best Buy and the game itself was $30 plus $20 guitar. And then I went to Toys R Us and got this set, hope there is nothing wrong with that. Guitar is not fancy, pretty plain but more then enough to play this game, she has a real guitar anyway.

Great deal on a fun game. We've had it since the Christmas that it came out and it pretty much just gets pulled out on holidays when everyones home but it's great fun! Have Rock Band, as well, it's probably more fun for us or DD and her friends as we can all play at once.

This one is Guitar Hero 3, Legends of Rock. There are not many choices for PS2. I would gladly get one with Beatles but they only for Wii. I tried(test) it. I cannot do it, it is so embarassing :goodvibes. Looks like lots of fun.
