From the years of lurking on these boards I have seen people talk about their guides as if they speak to them frequently. We purchased in 2004. Our guide called us once during our first stay in 2005, sent us paperwork when AKL was being built with his business card, and that was the last we have heard anything from him. Is this normal? I thought we would hear something or receive some kind of paperwork from him when BLT was being built but we didn't.

Every so often we'll get preprinted advertisments to buy more points with our guides info on it. Other than that, we don't hear anything.

:) I live in Mississippi, too. What city are you in? I am on the Coast in Pascagoula.

I haven't heard anything from my guide, other than the pre-printed promo material.

Every time we stay using DVC our guide always calls and leaves a message welcoming us, offering Fastpasses, and just to say hi. We also get pre-printed promotional material on a fairly regular basis. From what I've heard from others, this is higher than normal contact.

*sniffle* our guide never called us when we went on our first trip.

just kidding.

I'm expecting a call from my guide in a couple weeks when Aulani starts selling.

Guides are sales people and like it or not, most just want to sell.

Some Members feel like they have a personal friendship with their Guide.

A true test of the friendship is how often does the Guide call after you tell them that you don't want to buy.

Most Members will be on DVD's marketing list and receive the emails and mailings. Some members are active in the DVD rating system where Disney tracks potential buyers, they may get a call from a Guide.

Same as the others. Not a peep since 2005, except for the spam mail. When we added at the presentations at CR last year, an on-sight guide handled the paperwork. I thought our guide would have called to say Congrats, unless he didn't get a cut for being our official guide.

We heard from our guide our first visit. Not a peep since. We've been shuffled from one guide to another over the years (1994). A "Welcome Home" from someone other than Security at the gate or upon check-in (which doesn't always happen) sure would be nice. I think that bigger DVC has gotten, the less personal it has become. It's a shame, too!

Thanks everybody for your responses. Sounds like ours is the typical experience. I really thought we would hear from him for BLT and we were seriously considering adding on an additional contract. I am actually glad he didn't call since we now plan to add on to our home resort of SSR via resale sometime down the road.:)

Same here (shuffled from one guide to the next!). Waaaayy back when we first purchased our guide did call us when we were on-site a couple of times. Our next guide we never met, but spoke to several times on the phone to add on over the years. Our current guide - never heard from, never spoken to!

We've never expected to hear from anyone, but I would agree with you that overall it does seem less personal as DVC has grown - though we sometimes still see some personal touches when we visit HHI.

Funny. I get a 'Welcome Home" from my guide each time I visit. She has called a few times to give me the 'deals du jour' but no pressure. Yes, I get the emails and the snail mail about all of the promotions, but that is marketing... And with SSR currently selling at $90/point I just added on 100 points!! WooHoo:cool1:

Our guide was nice enough, and helpful when we called to buy more. However, we never received a call when on site, or FP. Some guide gave FP? Now that is an incentive to buy!!!!!

Just last week we got a call from our "new" guide. No explanation other than we were "reassigned". He was supposed to sent an intro email, but still haven't received anything. Told him we wanted immediate notice when Aulauni comes up for sale. We shall see how he does!

Well, in fairness to our Guide, we've only stayed onsite for one night since we purchased in 2009, but he has never reached out to us, either in terms of "hot deals" that are going on right now or otherwise. I actually don't mind that, though...better to leave the ball in our court rather than waste time either on his end or mine. :thumbsup2
