Hello!

We're ready to buy...too bad our guide doesn't seem to want our money!

I've had trouble getting call backs and have a few questions...anyone willing to help?

1) Is it better to have all our points at SSR, or 1/2 at AKL? I know we wouldn't be able to use them all until the 7 month window anyway, so would it matter at that point?

2) Do you have to buy points in certain increments? I know we'll need 282 for the 2 bedroom, can we actually buy 282 or do we need to buy say 300?

3) We have family who live in the Bahamas. So, the Nassau resort in the World Passport collection holds some interest for us. Anyone know how I can find which dates go with Low/Mid/High season? Are there really only the 3 point values for all those resorts?

Thank you in advance! Hope we still have time to purchase before the rates go up!

1) If you're sure you won't be able to plan most trips more than 7 months in advance, you are correct...points are points. Given your two choices, I would go with SSR, as the annual maintenance fees are lower.

2) You may buy points in any amount over 150 points for a master contract (soon to be 160). Add-on contracts must be at least 25 points, with a 50 point minimum if you want to finance the add-on.

3) There is often resort info available on the Interval International website. As to whether the II seasons on the website match the season considered by DVC...I would assume so, but it would be safest to call your guide to be sure. DVC members can not trade directly over the Interval website, they must all go through Member Services.

SOrry, I was misleading. What I meant was I was told by my guide that I could only use the 11 month window with the points at that resort. So, if I have 150 at AKL and 150 at SSR, I couldn't plan my week at either resort 11 months out.

Thanks for your help!:flower3:

Your guide is correct, points can't be combined until 7 months. You could use 150 AKV point at AKV at 11 months, and book 150 points at SSR 11 months, but not combine those points for a stay at either resort until 7 months.

Another tactic when you own two different resorts is to use the bank and borrow policy, and use 2-3 years of points at once for that resort. If you have 150 at AKV, you could bank one year, and the next year have double the points, plus add anypoints needed from the following use year to make a ressie.

I just wanted to add, that there are no "incriments" that you have to follow when maknig that initial purchase other than the minimum buy in point. Once you hit the 150 (or soon 160), you can do any number frm 151-1999! We just added on 69 and a friend of ours owns a 151 point contract.
