Guide book recommendation

We are staying in Ventura from 7/19-7/26, then 7/26-27 will be in DLR. we are flying into LAX. ANy guidebooks you could recommend would be great. We know NOTHING about CA, and I don't want to miss out on something because we didn't know about it!

The Unofficial Guide to DLR

Frommer's San Diego

AAA Tour Book for Southern California & Las Vegas


I always like the Unofficial Guides, but the AAA Tour Books give a great, short/sweet overview of an area. Tour Books are free to AAA members, but I have seen them at Half Price Books.
