Guide Added Wrong Resort

Well I’ve run into a new problem and of course it happens Friday of a long weekend. I called my guide to purchase an add on contract for the Poly but instead I logged into my account and I see the Grand Floridian listed.

I know it’s an honest mistake on my guide’s part (we were discussing both) but has anyone ever had this problem and was your guide able to fix it? The Grand isn’t the worst ‘oops!’ in the world but I really wanted the Poly points.

😂 That’s the first time I’ve read anything like that! Mistakes on paperwork crop up, but the wrong resort? What did the edocs that you signed say? If the docs you signed said Poly then it’s probably not your guide that made the mistake but whomever loaded the new contract into the system likely hit the wrong key when they loaded the new contract into your membership - so an IT fix situation.

Don't you have to sign a contract? What did the contract say? Buying DVC isn't quite like ordering a pizza... Can you actually start making reservations the day you buy? Isn't there a standard closing process?

Yes you can. The paperwork comes later. Not much later.

There are two different signing processes depending on whether you do cash or finance. With a cash purchase you sign the docs several weeks later. When you add cash points it can literally happen within minutes.

Don’t you have to complete some form of docuSign the day you buy? That’s how it’s always worked for me.

We didn’t when bought VGF. The e sign docs came 2 days after we told our guide we wanted to buy and we gave him our CC info.

The docs come based on how busy they are and time of day you agree to buy…mine have pretty much come within the same day that I added on, except with my recent VGF…I changed what we bought and they came the next day, but points were loaded that night

Innocent mistake? Maybe not.

In early 2004, we put down a credit card deposit for (direct) Boardwalk Villa points with Dec UY. Months later the guide calls, "Your points are in!" and sends the paperwork. Ummmm ... these say Saratoga Springs? He claims it is a mistake.

We go back to waiting and again the call, "Your points are in!" The paperwork again shows Saratoga ... and now an OCT UY. We called back and fought with the guide ... but eventually caved and accepted his Saratoga Springs OCT points -- even though we'd clearly said BWV, DEC UY. So that is what we ended up with and, fwiw, it created a lot of friction in our early years of DVC ownership. Over time we've mellowed quite a bit on the issue as we've been very successful using the points across the system.

(So now you all know how I ended up with a Disboards user name tied to BWV but an avatar from SSR? LOL)

I guess giving the wrong resort is better than what happened to us back in 2017. We added a small 25 point contract and charged it to our Disney Visa. Well low and behold that charge was there and another almost 3 times as large. Called up DVC, they charged me someone else’s contract. They had no explanation on how it happened.

Just wondering why you would add on direct at the Poly for about $250 a point when you could probably get a resale for 80-90 a point less . Or just wait until the Poly tower is done and probably get huge incentives at around $200 a point .
