guestxxxxxx - when will I get a real name?

I just created my character 3 days ago, but Im still called guestxxxxx. Do I need to be online when they create my name or is that something they can change in the background?

They can change it in the background. It generally takes up to a week for them to change it.

Yeah, that's how I felt when I first joined, too, and that's why I joined. All of the experienced players are a lot of help!

here's another semi related question.

Should I hold off making friends until I get a real name or will the 'background' change also change my name in anyones friends list I might be on?

Your name will change on people's friends lists and they'll get a message letting them know about the change, so you're safe

Your friends' lists will automatically change when your name is approved. They will also receive an in-game message informing them of your new name.
