Guests moving sleeper chairs at AKV & BLT

I'm glad to hear someone has done this successfully and thanks for the tip about the gliders! We plan on doing this too. My 3 yo will sleep in the sleeper chair and I'd rather have it in the bedroom with us so she isn't all alone in a strange place with a kitchen full of sharp knives and a stove and so that DH and I can use the living room/kitchen after she goes to bed. We'll be careful too and I don't really see it as a problem.

We hadn't considered this before reading this thread, but for future trips, we may just move the chair to accomodate families of 3 sharing the space in a 2BR. Even though there's been posts saying that the chair is heavy, where there's a will there's a way.

We considered moving the chair into the master bedroom for my 3yo DD to sleep on in a 2BR at Kidani.
We also have four older boys.
But we decided to order a toddler bed instead...:thumbsup2
I could just see DH throwing out his back and ruining our whole vacation.

Twice now Ive seen mention of potential guests (renters or owners) considering moving the sleeper chair from the living area into the bedroom of the 1 br units at Kidani in order to give the living room sleepers a private space :confused3

As an owner there I worry 1) about the unit's walls being bashed up and 2) about the safety of the individuals attempting to do such a thing.

Short of bolting the chairs to the floor (which we don't want to/can't do) what can be done to let guests and owners know that this is unacceptable? Can fines be imposed on those who move the furniture about?

If it's been mentioned here twice or more, I'm sure out in the general public it's been considered far more times and will continue to be considered. I include BLT in this thread as it too will have the same problem having the sleeper chair in the living room.

Maybe I'm just overly concerned. Is this a non-issue? Perhaps the people will reconsider once they see the chair & doorways?

Frankly I'm thinking that you have way too much time on your hands if your worrying about stuff like this.....:rolleyes1

Frankly, I'm glad members are looking out for their ownship. Moving the furniture could cause damage to the carpet or the walls by people who aren't as careful as others.

I agree. I also find it very amusing that no one here considers themselves as part of the problem. Everyone is always very careful, no damage done, etc. Yet, I imagine there are screws that could be loosened, little dings that go unnoticed or excused by all of us. It is a very heavy chair.

Absoluely! We hear all these complaints about the conditions of the units not being maintained up to everyone's standards, but if folks are doing things like moving furniture to different rooms, is it any wonder stuff gets ruined?:scared1:

We were dismayed to find upon check in the following damage in our 1 br villa: a 5 inch gash in the surface of the kitchen table and a dent in the bathroom closet door. The door stoppers did the damage to the door. I didn't understand where the dents could be from until I looked at the rubber stoppers they had in place at the top. When the door is opened too far the stoppers put a dent into the door.

Sorry to say but just like other aspects of DVC which are abused, you'll never get any enforcement out of this. How many people still try and smoke in our around their room ( I just caught one last week, made a VERY LOUD comment, so they went inside). How about the ADR abuses, how about how trashy people leave the units, etc. etc. etc. I don't see where this will make any difference to management, complaints will be left on deaf ears.

I could barely move the one in my Kidani villa just to be a little better angle to the living room tv. I sure the heck wouldn't be moving it around to the bedroom! They are HEAVY!!
:scared:

Mine still had pieces of packing styrofoam under it.
:thumbsup2
