Guest Test of Magic Bands (Official Notice)

Maybe we were there at the same time! I was like ten when i went w my dad and there were like no waits that afternoon, I remember they still had the skyline thing we went back and forth a few times on that. I was great and there was no such thing as fastpasses....

Just got notice that my Magic bands have shipped, which is the first email I've received that we are part of the test.

Their app also tries to use some pretty clever software to predict the ACTUAL wait times, not just the posted times (so even if the posted time is 50 mins, but you might really be on the ride in 35mins, that's what they'll try to tell you). I have a lot of respect for the people that run that site, they really do know their stuff and they continually reseach and test their predictions live in the parks (not just via submitted data).

It's well worth the small annual fee! Also a fan! I used a Mousesavers code and only paid $8.95 US

Me too! I just got a notice that my bands will be ready for pick up at our resort! I think International visitors get the bands sent to resort rather then shipped to our home. Guess it saves them on international shipping costs.

I read about everyone w 5-6 FP and such and think to myself "Self, you're gonna have a lot of hiking to do to ride what you want to ride..." Then I get nostalgic for the ONE time I've been to disney in 1994 where we rode Splash, got off, rode again, got off and rode BTMRR then walked over to the mansion, rode, got off, rode 2x more... And the same thing for POTC! That was April 1994... I'd like to be able to do this again-as those are my favorite rides-supposedly with the regular FP I would've come close to being able to... Does anyone that's used the new bands yet know if this will be possible 20 years later in 2014?? Feel free to bump this or PM me with ideas!!

I'm glad you both have such fond memories.:goodvibes

My personal experience is that of waiting in much longer lines before fast pass. I couldn't believe how great fast pass was the first time I used it. :thumbsup2

Yes there were defenitly those times I remember of extremely long waits as a kid that I felt hot and miserable and thought the line would never end lol. I think that's what made it seem so awesomely special when magically there was no wait. I loved the implementation of fastpass but I always wanted to be in Disney lines or not, that was as a kid though, now although I don't want to wait in the lines I know my kids will love it regardless so whatever this new system brings I will take my kids anyway!

I hear yah! We're pretty adaptable and will be going no matter what.
I will say, we loved using the RFID scanners (or whatever they're called) to get into the room and the parks when we were there in April.

Skyway was another one too!! Ill miss that... Poor people died on it and Disney got beat up by OSHA for that... People weren't as lawsuit happy in 1994... Now poor disney has to really cover their behinds against stuff... I was about 10/11 6th grade I believe... Yes it was indeed 6th grade because it will be 20 years and 5 months almost to the day... (Im not neurotic or anything about dates lol... I'd go to disney tomorrow and never come back if I could do it)

When are you visiting? Just wondering if they'll be offered when we go on 9/25/13.

Checking on at Pop Century on the 6th, but we have a later reservation at AoA. The interesting thing is the magic bands don't show the AoA reservation which is the majority of the stay. However, my tickets are 10 day tickets and I have been able to schedule the 7 days of the trip I've done so far.

Not sure what will happen when we check in to the new hotel (AoA), but I would imagine the bands have to allow for attending the park before and after your hotel reservation. How many people go to the park the day of their reservation before checking in or go to the parks after checking out on the last day.

My bands are suppose to arrive by 10:30a Central today. They sent them next day air from Memphis.

I agree wholeheartedly! The Touringplans Lines app is amazing (as are their books, touring plans, info and everything else) and what you refer to above is one of the reasons I love it so much, because we all know that posted wait times can be waaaaay off! I have no plans whatsoever to stop subscribing to TP even though MDE is supposed to offer so many great features. The Touringplans folk have been with me since my first trip and at least I know I can count on them ...... Disney on the other hand, when it comes to technology, has a long way to go :rotfl: I'll be renewing my annual subscription this week - money well spent!

Great info, thanks!

I just did mine too, it was due on 1st August but as I'll be at WDW then I thought I'd get it out of the way now. I'll still use the Disney MDE (MDX?) app too, but don't expect too much from it.

Please let us know when they arrive and if there is any additional information sent with them. Thanks! :goodvibes

They arrived, but we didn't receive the separate letter that some have reported receiving. The box looks just like the box everyone else got, which I thought was strange it features the wife from the Incredibles movies. There was a RFID information sheet under the bands and band holder insert, but not much else. Instructions on the inside of the top lid mentioned you can separate the band by the pre-scored area on it to make it fit better on smaller wrists.

I feel really stupid asking this bc I'm sure the answer will be obvious but sleep deprived brain is not coming up with anything.

When is FW?

September 27th to November 11th I believe.

I got mine yesterday and there is no additional information. Just how to make them smaller.
