My family is doing a quick trip (2 days) to Disney World before our cruise in February. We want to go to Hollywood Studios the first day and will need to get my son a DAS card. However, my son has recently become a Star Wars fan and is dying to do the Jedi training, so we need to hustle over for sign ups when the park opens. He needs to be present for both things - what's the best way to do this? I'm worried that if we stop to get the DAS card then we will miss the Jedi openings; but he will become overwhelmed and frustrated if I rush him over to the training to stand in line and then drag him back to the front of the park for his pass. Can I get to Guest Services before the park opens? Other suggestions?

You can try Guest Relations outside of the park, which will be open before the park opens. There is no guarantee that they will be able to issue a DAS card there. Sometimes, they are either too busy with pass issues that prevent someone from getting I go the park or they may just not have what they need there.

My suggestion would be to go sign up for the Jedi training since there are limited numbers of spaces available and they do fill up fast. Since DAS can be requested at any point, if he is overwhelmed after doing the sign up, you can go somewhere quiet for him to calm down.
Also, keep in mind that you will be able to make 3 pre-arranged Fastpass Plus attractions. You can make one for an attraction he likes so that when you are done with the sign up, he can go on a favorite with a short wait.

Thanks - we will try the outside guest service but if it doesn't work then we will head to Jedi sign ups first.

Would this be acceptable - my son has motor skill issues along with his sensory issues, so getting to the sign ups with him will be fairly slow going (trying very hard not to go the wheelchair route), could my husband head straight over there to secure a place in line and we would meet up with him?

We're also considering doing breakfast at Hollywood & Vine before park opening so that we could be a little closer and then head right over, however we have no real interest in the Disney Jr characters/experience. I'm trying to convince my son that watching the show without being in it would be just as good….he hasn't bought that so far!

The child has to be in line with the adult, without one or the other they will not let you in the building to sign up. HOWEVER, there are some JTA CMs that drop the rope on that side and give the rules. If you speak with one of them prior, they *may* work with you, but you should be prepared that they only enforce the rules. Also, they walk you to the JTA sign ups, so there won't be anyone running past you to get a spot...it still is a bit competitive to get there first, though.

Doing the breakfast won't put you any closer to the front for JTA sign ups. I would skip it, especially since you aren't really interested in it.

Is there any way that you could go to GS outside of MK the night prior to going to DHS? Then you wouldn't have to worry about getting the DAS that day, you would be all set to go.

Going the night before would be ideal but our plane doesn't come in until 8:30. If there's no real advantage to the breakfast then we will skip it, I was thinking it might make the walk there easier but probably not enough to make it worth it. I think I will just breathe and go with the flow!
