Guest Services - will they send a fax for you?

We're going to be staying at a WDW resort after our trip. I know that Touring Plans has a faxing service to request a particular room, but I've also heard of some CMs either ignoring or losing those faxes. So I was thinking of covering my bases and sending a fax, myself. Of course, we'll be on the ship during the time I'd want to put in that request.

So does anyone know if guest services will fax something out for you and what sort of cost would be associated with that?

I think it is hit or miss when you ask Guest Services. They may do it for you. All you can do is ask!

From what I've heard the Touring Plans faxes are more likely to be paid attention to than a personal fax.

I would call and have my request notated on the reservation, do online check in and NOT check anything that contradicts the request (like "early arrival is more important than everything else"), and do the Touring Plans fax service. In fact that's what I'm doing for my August trip.

I haven't checked anything on my online check in. I was tempted to call, but don't want to mess up a good system, if it works. Sadly, as the WDW stay is after the cruise, I expect I will worry about it all week long, as well as how to tell my family they have to get up even earlier for MK due to the new Welcome show and entry procedures. Why didn't we do WDW first and Kennedy last?

I had one CM when I called actually send me the reservation showing my request on it (along with the words REQUESTS NOT GUARANTEED of course) on it. I don't know if that's because the person I talked to before her said "lake view isn't requestable for Art of Animation" and I had no clue what she put down (I know it IS requestable as "lake view" is one of the options to check on online check-in) so I called back and explained it and THAT CM was amazing and put exactly what I wanted - she even added in the building request for me.

My gut says they're less likely to lose what is on the reservation from a call than they are a fax. But I figure I'll cover all my bases. And if for some reason I don't get anything close to my request (like the last time I was at CBR and requested Barbados (one of the LEAST requested areas) but was given Jamaica 45 (one of the MOST requested buildings), I'll stop by the front desk when I get there and see if there is anything available closer to my request.

Then again, I try to not get so hung up on a room location that not getting it will ruin my stay.

I wouldn't expect Guest Services onboard to be willing to fax anything. Their connectivity ship-to-shore isn't necessarily any better than your own. If you really want to try, you should be able to fax from your computer or mobile device, but you'd need to either sign-up for the free 50MB or purchase a plan.

Call WDW and have the request noted on your reservation. Use the Touring Plans service if you wish. Call again just before your cruise to verify the request is noted. That's really the best you can do. And be aware that no requests are guaranteed. Please don't set yourself up for disappointment in the event the room you want isn't available. WDW tries to honor requests but it's not always possible. Coming from the ship, you'll be arriving relatively early (mid-morning) so stop by the desk as soon as you arrive to ask where your room is located. If it doesn't meet your request, let them know you are willing to wait for a different room. Then head to the parks and don't stress over it.

Enjoy your cruise and parks vacation!

Thanks. Some good advice here. I will really be happy for anything on the floor I've requested, but I did ask for a particular room, as it was recommended to me.

I can't comment on faxes specifically, but I found GS to be VERY helpful. I thought they'd be swamped most of the time, but honestly other than the first afternoon and the last evening/morning they lines were very short and often non-existent. When there was no line, they seemed very willing to answer any questions, chat, whatever you wanted. It felt like they WANTED to do anything they could to help me.

So as long as you go sometime when there isn't a line, I think you stand a decent chance that they will say "sure."

Years back (2006), we had just moved to Florida, and were still trying to sell our house in Maryland. We were in Magic Kingdom when we got the call from our realtor that we had an offer on the house. We spent the next couple of hours in Town Hall, where they were happy to help us out with faxing things and accepting faxes for us on things that needed to be signed.

(Misunderstood the question. I have no data about faxing from onboard.)

See, those little things are the reason people pay a premium for Disney. Customer service is just that good.

I use Touring Plans fax service and always get my requests. I've been lucky so far! I don't get too detailed in what I want though. Usually I just ask for a specific building.

Yeah...I've always heard that it's best to stick to "simpler and broader". Building number and facing direction of the room you'd prefer, floor you'd prefer, etc. The Touring Plans fax primary line (where the room numbers are) is worded in "Disney Room Speak" so that the assigner knows exactly what you are talking about, and you can add in details such as the priority you want the requests considered in if your specific (general) area is not available.

I've always been told NOT to give only one room number because if that room is unavailable (and there is a high likelihood that it could be - even if only for a night or two), the assigner won't know why you wanted it. It's better to be general. Yes, with Touring Plans you click on "request this room for my upcoming stay" but the wording they give in the basic info is (for example): "Bldg The Little Mermaid,Flr 4,SE-facing room.Exmple:7860,7859,7858,7857,7856" - I then prioritized in the "additional comments" box my preferences for 1) 4th floor; 2) Lake View, 3) Building 7 so in the event that none of the listed rooms are available, the assigner knows how to prioritize his/her search for a room to put me in.

We're paying for a theme park view at Contemporary, so I want to be able to watch whatever the fireworks show is.

This is what I said in the comments of my TP fax:
First choice would be 4739

Must have priority: Upper level (ex: 11th floor)
2 queens + day bed
Excellent view of Magic Kingdom + Wishes
