The only catch was, we waited for an hour for a bus and missed EMH.
So, to back up, here is the scoop:
Me ad DH for a lovely celebration of our 13 anniversary
Wed 9/8 through Sunday 9/12
POFQ with free dining
4 day park hoppers, with Tickets to Night of Joy on Fri and Sat
We arrived at Orlando airport at 9:55pm, were planning on picking up our luggage since our flight was scheduled to arrive in at 10:15 (past the deadline for ME pickup/delivery of luggage). We had tagged our luggage with the ME Stickers and much to our surprise they actually grabbed them, so we went right on over to check in at ME. We were on the bus by 10:10, and arrived to our resort at 10:55. We were happy it was "quick".
Check in was a breeze, and shuffled off to our room. I had requested a top floor with a king. We got top floor but no king. Dropped off our carryon luggage and took a quick walk over to Riverside to catch Piano Bob, as this would be our only free evening to try and see his show. He is funny! and very talented...he was done playing by just before midnight so we were only able to see about 20 min of his show.
We headed back to POFQ, and I couldn't help but thinking how dissapointed I was in the full beds...I really wanted a king bed. So, I ask my dear hubby if we could stop at the desk and see if they had "anything" else. He agreed, and we ended up having to upgrade to preferred in order to get a king. The resort didn't seem busy at all, and I thought they should have had some standard king rooms left...but oh well. We ended up paying another almost $30/nt for the upgrade. The new room was perfect and we ended up being very happy that we switched.
We got up on Thursday morning at 6:30 to make sure we were on the character meal but to get us to Epcot by 7:30. We didn't have a character meal, we had a date with SEGWAYS!! We had to be there by 8:15 and entered the park early to meet our guide. It was just us, and another couple. We spent some time taking pictures of the empty park and then headed over to Innoventions East for our training. The first time I stepped up on the Segway, I thought NO WAY can I do this. In a few seconds thought it stopped wiggling and I tried to relax. We had a blast, and toured all of World Showcase before any guests, and got lots of cool tidbits of information. The hour out in WS went too fast. We spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon at Epcot, we road Test Track and Mission Space with wait times of less than 15 min. We at lunch at Biergarten. (awesome)
It was so hot, that by 2:00 we decided to go back to the resort and swim before coming back in the evening for dinner and Illuminations. We had dinner at Les Chefs and thought the food was ok. I didn't like how the tables were set up, we were right next to another family and it just wasn't very romantic. No acknowledgement that it was our anniversary though it was noted on our reservation. Illuminations was breathtaking as usual, and we rode the monorail to Contemporary and watched the Electrical Water Pagent.
We ordered a drink at The Wave, and took the walking path over to MK to catch a bus back to our resort.
Friday morning up early, we had to be to MK by 7:30 for the Steam Trains and More Tour. If you like Disney history you would love this tour. You basically get the entire history of Walt Disney and how Disneyland came to be, plus how the trains fit into his dream. It was very interesting and great to see a little backstage Disney. I have to say, I am not ready for anything more...I think it might just take away a little of the magic seeing some of the behind the scenes stuff. Just my opinion.
Headed to Downtown Disney for lunch at Earl of Sandwich and some shopping. EOS has incredible sandwiches!! I was blown away! We took the water Taxi from Downtown Disney back up the river to our resort, went for a swim and headed to NOJ.
I'll have to continue our NOJ experience and the rest of the weekend a bit later....
