I received a call yesterday from guest services regarding our stay 10/1-10/7 at CCV. They said due to unforeseen maintenance on the balconies they had to move us. Options given were BWV and BRV. They also offered a $50 gift card per night of stay. I’m not excited about either of these options. I’d prefer BRV over BWV but heard BRV are in desperate need of a refresh. What should I do? We’re bummed about this change. They told us that if we found other rooms with availability online that we would be on the hook for the price difference. This just doesn’t feel very magical.

I understand being upset. We all spend so much time picking our resorts, it is upsetting to have to move. But I also understand stuff happens.

I would decide where your second choice is, and check for openings. Even if it is an upgrade. Then call and see if they will move you without charge.

I'm all about location at WDW. If most of your plans revolve around staying at CCV/BRV/WL, I would probably move to BRV. If not, I would head over to BWV. What room category are you in? Perhaps also ask, politely, if they would consider upgrading your room since BRV, IMHO, is not comparable to CCV in terms of room quality.

This happened at AKV Jambo last year….the work interfered with rooms and people have to be moved,

It is disappointing but not much can be done since they don’t Always know when this will happen.

I would decide which resort meshes best with your plans and go with that one!

Oh no!! We have a trip 10/7-10/11 at CCV… now I’m jumpy every time my phone buzzes.

I hope they are able to find an acceptable alternative for you. Personally I would take BWV as it seems BRV is currently being renovated.

But personally I’m very much looking forward to my first CCV stay. Hopefully, as I have a room with a tub, it’s on the first floor and thus no balcony to maintain.

I hope it doesn’t impact you but the washing will be coming down the entire side of the building so they probably take all rooms out of service.

Good point.

Guess I should start thinking about alternatives, just in case… bummer.

We are in a 1BR. A lot of our plans are in the MK area so I prefer to stay at BRV over BWV. They said there was nothing else in the MK area available. I can see online there is a 2BR at BRV available during our stay. Do I ask to be upgraded to that? When I spoke to them last night it felt as if any type of upgrade was off the table. Just the $50 gift card for the inconvenience.

Also like how bad are the BRV rooms? Are they tolerable just give the price point they need some love? I’m ok with a little wear in an overall comfortable room. But some of the reviews are making me nervous that is more than just a little wear.

Well, if it were me, I would consider what would happen if I didn't answer the phone.

Would they move onto the next person, and find enough other people to move so that they never needed to come back to me, and I could still stay at CCV?

Or, would they move onto the next person, but still have to come back to me to arrange a different hotel, and by the time they got back to me the better options would be gone because other people grabbed them?

Do you own at CCV? If so, I might pick BWV just because in my experience it’s hard to book there otherwise. It could end up being better than your original plan. Try it out. BRV seems like it’s just fine to me. I’ve heard the rumors about it being in need of updating, but I’m easily pleased inside the bubble. As long as I control my AC, and it’s as clean as a Hampton Inn, I’m thrilled.

I would probably answer the phone. I wouldn’t mind hearing the options. (In fact I’ve already told DH about this thread and asked what his opinion would be if given choice between BWV and BR. He chose wrong lol.)

It wouldn't hurt to ask. I would just say you've heard the rooms at BRV are in less than ideal shape and feel a move from CCV to BRV isn't really equitable. Would they please consider moving you to a 2-bedroom? Or ask again if, by chance, something is available at BLT or VGF (probably a long shot).

We don’t own at CCV. We actually are not DVC. We paid cash for the room. Does that matter in this circumstance? This whole situation is just a huge turn off. We’ve had this trip planned since October 2019 and canceled multiple times due to covid. I’ve read multiple threads about “pixie dust” and this feels like the opposite.

As a cash guest, you are dealing directly with Disney and not DVC.

It certainly can’t hurt to ask if there would be a way to be given a larger room for no additional cost but they did offer the $50/night gift card so they must have felt that was fair compensation for having to move resorts.

However, the worst they can say is this is the best we can do and then you can decide.

Good luck.

I would go with Boulder Ridge. Unless you're spending most of your time in your room its not gong to matter much and it will provide the most comparable experience. And think about it this way, this will be your last chance to experience the rooms in their older state, which a lot of longtime WLV owners absolutely adore.

Again, I get being upset. But try and think of it as Disney wanting to do right by you. They would rather move you than have you show up to a room or resort that will be in disrepair, or less than you deserve.

I just stayed in a balcony room at the Swan with a big old sticker on the slider that said the balcony was closed. I was bummed, but I couldn't ask to be moved as the rest of my family was in the connecting room. At least Disney is trying to do something before you have a problem at the resort.

Boulder Ridge is currently undergoing some room renovations so there may be some noise from that depending on where they are in that process. However, you'll still have easy access to all the same amenities as if staying at Copper Creek. We've never stayed at either and have heard the mixed reviews of BRV but the peacefulness of the resort is unrivaled.

On the other end BWV will be walkable to 2 of the 4 parks and gets you international gateway entry to Epcot so also another valid option. The bus service to mk from boardwalk has always been good and we do like the atmosphere and resort.

It's a tough choice but and I understand being upset about the move, but at least they gave you options and early notice so you can rearrange.

Take the BRV room and the gift card and enjoy the extra space with access to the same resort you originally wanted. Boardwalk Vilas are worn as well.

I get the disappointment part. Use the $300 in gift cards on something fun. And BRV rooms aren't that bad at all overall. Just a bit worn.

Thank you. This is where my head is at. BRVs are comparable to the experience we originally booked. And the gift cards can get us some ILLs that I wasn’t planning on purchasing. It will be fine!
