Guest response to FP+ has been "overwhelmingly positive"

This has nothing to do with my personal opinion. Seriously, if you think the feedback on FP+ has been "overwhelmingly positive", you either aren't reading the boards or you're in denial.
The vast majority of people I talk to, that have used it, have no issues with it. Granted, not thousands of people, but I kind of doubt you've talked to thousands of people either.

I have no doubts that people surveyed have said they like it. That's entirely possible. My point is, Staggs knows very well (and says so in the article) that most people weren't using Fastpass before, so they have nothing to compare it to. If you ask the guest who was using it before, the responses are not going to be "overwhelmingly positive".

If it was going so swimmingly, why have they already made 2 major changes to the system "per guest request"?
Ok....I have used FP+ for 3 trips to date. the one in January doesn't count since it was cold and rainy and even though I had chosen FP+, there was really no need to use them. But in Dec....I was still hearing guests saying, as I passed by in the FP return line, 'Wow, how do they get to go first? How much do you think that costs??'. Still overheard CMs trying to explain about FP+. People still thought it cost extra.
the vast majority of people heading to wdw really have no idea what the heck is going on!!! They haven't done their homework, they haven't done any research at all. And those guests have never had any clue as to how FP works....either + or -!!!

I got at least one or two surveys dealing with FP+ over the winter months...usually right after I returned from WDW. The first one was pretty general. But the second one was much more detailed. I was asked how I would like to see FP+ change. It gave 3 or 4 different options. Most people must have felt the same way I did...because that's what Disney did to make changes......you can now book more after you use the third one (and quite possibly be able to get a 4th or 5th after you just use the 1st one), and you can now park hop and use those addtl ones in a second park that same day. I'm happy, the people I have talked to are happy.

There is no one system that is going to work wonderfully for every single person. I liked the orignal FP system but found that if I got to a park after 10am, the decent FPs were gone. I can now avoid that happening. No, the new system will not work if you want to just hop on the first park bus that comes and have a very impromptu day....winging it as it were. We have always had to plan our meals way ahead of time....many people got incensed when Disney didn't release the park hours in time to make ADRs based on park hours. FP+ isn't all that different. You can no longer just get a FP, you can no longer just walk up to a popular restaurant and get seated.

Yes I stand corrected, there has been a problem with ADRS this week.

However that seems to be more a short term issue, but a problem with the over all system. When you have computers their will always be short term glitch's.

I was referring to the set up of the overall system in general.

Aside from the total system outage today :rolleyes1, MDE seems to work great for some visitors and then never work for others. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to who has a glitch-free vacation and those that have to waste HOURS of their expensive vacations getting things fixed that should have worked in the first place.
 
I am wondering what issues now, like in the last month??

Yes months ago there as big problems, but now I see post after post saying it worked perfectly.

# families we know just got back in the last 6weeks and loved the new system.

The only issue (it is not even a glitch or a problem) I have seen posted lately was something about changing the system so 2 families in one room could separate accounts.

Plenty of people have posted in the last few weeks that the system lost their reserved Fastpasses, including very hard to get ones, and Disney told them they would just have to reschedule. At least one person reported the system replaced their A&E Fastpass with STWB when they were changing another one.

It's still Russian Roulette. About one out of six people report some pretty bad problems, and as long as it's a other guy five people feel pretty good about it.
 
I would guess it didn't include the craziness of today!

Just hope it gets sorted soon.

Two points...

One- I took a survey from WDW about FP+ recently. Many questions were like :
a.)I love FP+ because it is awesome
B.) I love FP+ because it worked flawlessly for me
c.) this way my first time going to WDW and I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread

It reminded me a of a Stephen Colbert interview: Super amazing president or best president ever? (must've had a different one from Tink above. Previous survey's I've done were not like this one.)

I exaggerate somewhat, but only somewhat. Seriously, after taking that survey, it is not at all hard to see how they could have skewed results to the positive. I laughed out loud at several parts. There just was NO way to choose and option that reflected reality.

Beyond that, I must be an anomaly.

I was initially all for FP+, and what it COULD be. Maybe once the system is fixed it will somewhat resemble what I hoped.
That said, my experience with the new system was less than stellar. It wasn't because I don't like rethinking, or about maxing out the old system, or (posting on) the DIS.

Part of what I dislike is the new focus of WDW, Price increases, glitches. So many attractions at WDW just are in desperate need of updating. Some would be very simple. WDW could have done SO much more with Little Mermaid. For how much they hyped it, it SHOULD have been innovative!

Ooh, now I can spend $120 per person to see an after hours FotLK plus cheap wine?

This does no change the point in the article are makes that the over all system viewed very favorable, which has been pointed out on this thread, as well.

So is it your contention that MDE works great every other day of the year?
 
I was very pleasantly surprised by FP+ during my trip to WDW last week! :thumbsup2

I was dreading this trip when I heard Legacy FP was gone and I would have to deal with this new FP+.

I had booked a throwaway camp site and kept my reservation and did both the on-line check-in and the in-person check-in. The Magic Bands for everyone in my party (a party of 6) worked just fine for park entrance and at the FP+ return lines. This was the week after Easter.

We arrived on a Monday afternoon (the day after Easter). After checking in to our resort, (The Swan) and taking a cab to FW, where we did the in-person check-in, we hopped on the Friendship boat to HS. We arrived around 4 PM and were able to use our FP+ for The Great Movie Ride, Toy Story Mania, and had time to do The Muppet 3-D Show (no FP+), before our 6:40 PM Sci Fi Diner reservation. After dinner we did TofT with our remaining FP+. We were also able to get photos with the Incredibles before doing the 10:00 PM Fantasmic show.

Tuesday morning, we got to AK at rope drop. We did the Safari ride with no FP+. We then had a character breakfast at Tusker House. I used our FP+ for Expedition Everest, It's Tough to Be a Bug and Finding Nemo, The Musical. In-between the FP+ we saw the bird show and did a couple of rides in Dino Land. There was no wait in the line for the Pooh characters so we got photos with Pooh & Tigger.

Every day of our trip went just as smoothly! I was amazed that we got as much done as we did!

The topper came when, on Sunday (the Sunday after Easter) we were in MK. I was in one of the gift shops when I heard a CM say that after you had used your 3rd FP+ you would be able to book another one!

So, it appears this new FP+ is still a work in progress.

I think all the negativity I felt came from not knowing where Disney was going with this new FP+

I am looking forward to next year's trip already!!! :)

And these glitches have been going on for at least a year. When I was planning our 2013 vacation a little over a year ago MDE was a mess and this was before FP+ was an option for everyone. You would think they would have at least worked out some of those issues in that time. Its almost like the IT dept is run by a bunch of high school students taking their elective class.

Not t all.......only that as the article points out , that veal the MDE and FP+ is being well received outside the small world of the boards....

It is surely not perfect, however great improvements have been made.
