Guest response to FP+ has been "overwhelmingly positive"

Not sure where the joke is in the article. I'm guessing though that you don't like fastpass+ (or at least the idea of it if you have never used it).

We had a blast with fastpass+. Have used it twice and love it.

This has nothing to do with my personal opinion. Seriously, if you think the feedback on FP+ has been "overwhelmingly positive", you either aren't reading the boards or you're in denial.

He's probably correct. Not everyone hates it. The average guest probably likes it just fine, if they don't get hit by a computer crash or bug issues, or are unable to fit their party into Disney's mold of "nuclear family traveling together, staying in the same room and paying on the same account."

These boards are not a reflection of everybody using it.

Really, I don't think the guy just came out and lied through his teeth about it.

I think the fact is the majority of people AREN'T on these boards, they probably asked people who were using it AT the parks. I think it's going to be great, and am super excited to try it out when I go in October :)

Never said it was. I didn't buy that it was really as big of an issue until I started reading articles on non-Disney news sites about complaints with the new system.

Though I agree with you about the majority of guests not being board members, out of curiosity, what type of guest is a board member?

100% agreed.

Yes people on the DIS will share their negative or positive opinions, and on FB. But I do think that from the people they are surveying, they probably are getting a "mostly" positive response.

I've said that all along, though, that the people here on the DIS don't represent the average Disney goer and FP user. So even though it's overwhelmingly negative on here, it isn't in the "real" Disney world.

Or Tom could be living in an alternate universe... that's always a plausible explanation. ;)

I have no doubts that people surveyed have said they like it. That's entirely possible. My point is, Staggs knows very well (and says so in the article) that most people weren't using Fastpass before, so they have nothing to compare it to. If you ask the guest who was using it before, the responses are not going to be "overwhelmingly positive".

If it was going so swimmingly, why have they already made 2 major changes to the system "per guest request"?

I gave FP+ a fair shot and I have to say.

I don't care for it. Too structured for me and too much looking at my phone.
I won't use it again.

There are improvements. The CMs are handling things well. I had a few issues but they were worked out quickly. Just not for me.

Actually

1. The boards represent a small number of the guests to WDW.

2. Yes a very vocal but limited number of dis'ers( and other boards, but dis seems to be the most anti FP+) don't like FP+.

3. It has to be pointed out that many of the folks that ar anti FP+ are those that had a system set up to maximize the use of FP- and the change has hurt their planning style and reduced the number of FP they can use. I understandable reaction .

4. Since this article in the Orlando Sential a VERY ANTI WW newspaper, it would lead you to wonder why, if it was not true, they would print a positive WDW article. They would not indeed print such a article.

The bottom line it that outside the *small* world of the boards, there is a very big positive reaction to FP+ and MDE.

I will give you my view of FP+ in the fall , our next trip.

Guests who understood the old system and were willing to use it to its maximum benefit for them - show up early, grab as many FPs as possible, etc.

Anyone who made that their style of touring is going to be very frustrated with the new system.

I don't hate it. I just booked myself onto the Seven Dwarves Mine Train at 9 pm. I don't even have to go to the park until then if I don't feel like it. I just wish the IT worked better, and that Disney would figure out how to handle unrelated people staying in the same room who want their own separate accounts.

Besides...in a guest survey they can set it up that you can say you have a positive reaction to the IDEA even if you had a negative experience using the darn thing. It all depends on how they word the survey.

Every major change or introduction of a new system and format will require adjustments and changes........

If they did not make any changes, that would be the exception. So changes and more changes to make the system work as good as possible, is to be expected.

For the record, I was dead set against FP+ from the beginning. However, I do like the changes made and think they're getting the system in the right direction. So, my personal opinion has changed quite a bit about it.

I just don't agree with the article. Again, if things were so beloved, why did they make changes "per guest request"?

now that they allow more passes after you use your pre booked ones, its fantastic. we were able to get splash and space mtn FP last night around 7 for only 45 minutes later. we went through 8 passes. the kiosks are placed in good locations and waits were not long.

That's a huge difference between those that like it and those that don't. It's what became known in my mind as the Toy Story Mania way of touring.

This is what I was asking for all along - Just make it like the old system but have FP tied to your MagicBand. Essentially, that's what they've done. My concern is, how many FP's will be left in the peak summer months after the 1st 3 are used?

How do you, or anyone for that matter, know this?

Well gee.....it seems to be the general reaction to people we know and have talked you............surveys can be tilted, but it seems survey after survey is saying most approve of the new system.

Add to that the fact I noted about the people here are the one most tuned into maximizing the old system where the new FP+ makes it easier to folks that was not so WDW smart (assuming the do their homework as most realize needs to be done)

I would ask how you or anyone else know I am wrong?
