so im only 3 months away from my wedding and my guest count keeps dwindeling.. i originally had about 60 guests .. now ill be lucky to get 30.
Im getting married in the wedding pavilion and im worried that we'll feel lost in such a big venue... my wedding party has also been cut in half this past week even though they had made the commitment months ago to be apart of our wedding!! im just so bummed right now.. i feel like im spending all this money and putting all this effort into something that hardly anyones going to enjoy. :sad1:
im thinking about changing to seabreeze point, that way it will feel more intimate. im concerned the wp will feel "empty".
what do you all think? is it too big of a place for so few guests?

I am also getting married at the Wedding Pavilion and our guest count is only 20. During our planning session we went down and had some people sit in the pews to get a feel, and I promise you it doesn't seem empty at all! Just sit 4 per row and you'll be fine. :)

Oh sweetie! I know the feeling! We had some back and forth before the wedding and had some people who were supposed to be in the wedding back out and it was all very heartbreaking. I struggled a lot with it. Especially be we did have an Escape wedding and everyone involved knew that attendence was limited. So for them to bail in the ways that they did, it was lousy. Not to mention the lame lies and excuses as to why they couldn't go... :sad2:

Now, I've heared a million and one people say that the WP is just fine, even with a small group. I'm sure you'll be okay in there. AND remember your wedding is for you and you DF!! So as long as you two enjoy the day and events that's all that really matters. Those who are missing out?? Well, it's their loss anyhow!

Yeah! What Wendy said! :thumbsup2

Also, fewer guests means spending less $$$! :goodvibes

Lots of  Laura. I know how you feel, a lot of our guests have bailed on us too. You'd be suprised how lame the excuses can get - I mean you'd think they'd work a little harder at making up a better reason to not come to the wedding.

Just remember the important thing - you and your DF are getting married at the happiest place on earth! No matter who comes or doesn't come - you are still going to have a beautiful wedding. If you really love the WP, keep the location. There are many escape brides who have gotten married at the WP and I'm sure they didn't feel lost in the space. Good luck! Everything will work out in the end :goodvibes

I am so sorry for how much this hurts you!!! I was so stressed out about my guest count too and every "no" rsvp I got felt like rejection. Don't worry about the WP - I think it looks great with any amount of people! Now looking back on our VR, I would have been happy with fewer people - my DH and I made ourselves crazy trying to visit with all of the people at our DP and reception - of course we were happy to have everyone there but it would have been more relaxing with fewer people.

So sorry about all the issues. I would be pretty darn ticked if part of my wedding party had bailed on me. That's just not cool.

Anyhow, I just wanted to say that 30 people or so is not uncommon for destination weddings. It's just the way it is. But look at it this way, it means a smaller more intimate ceremony and more time to mingle with your guests.

We didn't get married at Disney. When we got married was about the time that Disney started doing the DFTW thing. We had a ceremony at home that included a 215 person guest list. Although it was fun and I had a blast, I regret that I didn't have more time to enjoy with my friends and family.

We've talked about a VR at WDW and it will be nice to have just our really close friends and family there rather than 215 people!

Sorry that everyone is backing out on you. THat really does suck.

I was married at the WP, and we only had 26 guests. It never felt like it was too big of a place for us. What was nice was that I was able to fit all my guests comfortably at the alter for a big group picture.

I know how you feel: when our guest count dropped drom 75 to 50, I was really bummed. But I'm so glad that we got rid of the extras: we could spend so much more per person, and it was much easier to interact with everyone.

I think the WP looks a little emptier with fewer people than a smaller venue would, but the pictures look fine. I've seen pics of weddings in the WP with only one or two guests, and I still think it looks gorgeous.

we only have 18 and are using the wp so dont fell bad that it will look empty

We're having the same problem. We still don't have official RSVPs yet since we didn't mail out our official invitations yet (we'll be doing that at 8 weeks out) but I know already that a lot of people aren't going to be able to make it.

I think the Wedding Pavilion is still going to look great with 30-something people! Don't worry about that. ^_^ I would have my wedding there even if the only people there were our parents, lol. It's still a gorgeous venue.

As for spending all that money... hehe DF and I have never thought of it as spending it for others to enjoy! This is OUR party, for him and I to enjoy. Besides, less people coming means less food costs. Woot! We're even thinking of adding a DP now 'cause of the lower guest count. Either that, or we're gonna start inviting some "B-list" guests haha!

I had the same isuse we invited 186 guest and we are only having 84. I was really bummed because we had all these people so oh yeah we will be there. See most all my guest are coming from NJ and with gas prices and airfare no one is able to swing it. It made me mad because I let everyone know a year out. We had the one guy suppose to be a groomsman.. My Df close friend growing up who said he'd be in the wedding. That was a year ago. MY DF called and called this guy just never called back so we had to replace him.

Its a bummer though.. But it will be a great time and all that matter to me is that our parents and siblings are there with us.

ps i'm in tampa to... carrollwood area... where are you?

Ummmm.... If you're looking for another guest, I'm available!!!!!!!!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I am sure it will look fine -- it is Disney nothing ever looks bad!! But if you want to take some of my guests I would be more then happy -- we are hoping to shave about 70 guests === come on rejections. :rotfl: :lmao:

 I agree with all of the other posts your wedding will be beautiful whether 60, 30 or 2 people there! I am only having 30 and we are having it at the WP and I was also worried about that same issue of will it look empty until I went on a site visit over 4th of July weekend. It is perfect. The pictures make it look huge inside and it really isn't at all. It is beautiful and intimate!

I've wondered if the WP has a smaller area they would let someone use for a small group. It's such a pretty place.
trudy <><

somone on here had the wedding on the beach outside the pavillion but i think they still paid the same price

we only had 17 guests total (2 under the age of 5) and we didn't feel like the WP was too big. To be honest, with the excitement of the day I never really even thought about it. Everyone will sit up front and on the aisle so they can get good pictures, and the way the seats are angled, it'll be fine. We had my sister and DBIL as our only attendants, plus my niece and nephew, so we also had a small bridal party - worked out great. Check out some of my pics on Disney's photography site that will show you what the ceremony looked like to help you picture it!

Oh, and take a look at your budget - you might be able to add a few extras now that you're not paying another $3k in food!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

i agree with other posters by saying that you'll have SO much more time to spend with your guests. we had 62 people and didn't get to spend nearly the amount of time with most of them that we wanted.

i'm biased to sbp (of course), so if you wanted to switch, then IMHO you couldn't pick a better option. 30 at sbp would seem "full" if that's important to you!

I know how you feel. I've had 3 bridesmaids drop and it just hurts when people do this last minute on you. You WILL have a beautiful wedding no matter what. What's meant to be, is meant to be! :wizard: It'll be perfect just the way it happens!
