I decided to call the Bike Barn to make reservations for the November trip. I was so surprised to hear "Bike Barn, this is Sundee"! Of course I had to tell her what a celebrity she is here on the DIS. This came as no surprise to her, though. It just made my day to talk to Ms. Sundee and I had to share with you. She made special mention of you, BigDisneyDaddy! Only 96 more days to our first trip with the popup and we can't wait!!

Ms. Sundee is a legend in her own time! She always speaks highly of BigDisneyDaddy! I think she might be "crushing" on you Big! I hope to be enjoying her show 2 weeks from tonight!

I wish I had more friends like Sundee. I cant tell you how disappointed my family was to find out she was not able to work last fall. Then when we got there this Christmas and she was back and we were there for her first day back, somebody was trying to tell us all something, that kind of thing doesnt happen by coincidence !
Disneyworld has always been a special place for my family and making a friend like Sundee just ices the cake.
We started going to the campfire back in the early 90's when we usually stayed at Dixie landings or Port Orleans. For the longest time we didnt even know what FW looked like in the daylight since the only time we went there was for the campfire, this was back in the Darryl days. I think Julie has been there as long as I can remember. anyhow we just started getting pulled back to FW more and more until a few years back we started thinking about getting another trailer (we had a popup in the late 80's but it didnt work out well for us) had it not been for FW we probably wouldnt have got back into RVing. We even popped for a new truck last month (bigger with a diesel) so we could make the long trips to FW easier and less expensive.
My Mom thinks I am crazy ( I think she has Disney envy since my Dad doesnt take her anywhere) and my wife laughs at me every time I get the itch to make more ressies.
If I go too long without going to WDW and FW I start Jonesing for a fix, and as I get older the fixes last less and less. The current bet is that I will end up at least wintering in Florida when I can retire in 9 years ( 25 and out is a greta thing )
Only 12 more days and I can sit by the fire with my family and watch classic Disney movies, life is good :cool1:

Sundee... if youre lurking I will be home on the 24th .... :rotfl:

bigdisneydaddy, your post totally sums up the experience at the Fort. I camped with my mom, dad, brother, and assorted friends at FTW from June 1972-March 1985. Those were the best moments of my life. My favorite memories are all of WDW and the Fort. I got away from camping during my young adult life and then I finally took the girls on their first trip to WDW in November, 2001. Although we stayed at CBR and WL, we had to make a trip over to the campground for memories. I was shocked at how emotional it was for me. After that, the Disney trips started becoming more and more frequent. Even though we tried other resorts, our hearts belonged at the campground. We stayed in the cabins often, but still, something was missing. At first I was a little nervous about purchasing a camper and handling it alone. (I'm a widow.) Then, I started thinking about the old camping days helping my dad set up the large TT. I knew that with practice and patience I could handle a popup. So, the new-to-us camper is in the driveway and we will be finally camping again in 95 days. I can't wait to be home!

ETA: I forgot to say that Ms. Sundee mentioned you also, MrsGus!

Ugadog99,

You will do great with the camper and your girls. My best friend and I would take her pop up to Ft. Wilderness with 9 out of our 10 kids. Their ages at that time was 14 months to 14 years. The first trip, neither one of us had ever backed anything in so when we got there, the gentleman in the next site offered to do it for us. Remeber, campers are one of the nicest people when it comes to helping someone. I see by the numbers that we will be down there about the same time you are. How old are your girls? I will have my 4 dd 18, 8, 6, and 3 and my best friend (we now have our own travel trailers this time) will have 2 of her girls, both 11. Maybe we will run into you at the campfire or pool. I have requested the 1700 loop. By the way, when we took the pop up, we always requested the 1500 loop to be by the pool and bike barn. Congrats again on your purchase. You and your girls will have wonderful memories!

MrsGus, we will be at FTW June 13-23. I am booked in a preferred pet loop and have requested 300. We will have Cricket (dachshund) with us. My girls are 10 and 14. We will also have my older daughter's best friend with us. She is also 14. My father is giving me backing lessons. Of course, having him makes it easy. By myself, who knows???

I looked back over my previous post, and I can't type. The dd listed as 18 is actually 10. Wishful thinking on my part :rotfl2: . If your 10 yo is looking for pals to hang out with, cruise the 1700 loop, we have plenty for her. They will have their bicycles and scooters with them so the campsite probably will not be pretty. The camper is a Cougar bunkhouse and will be located by a Springdale bunkhouse. Our arrival date is June 11 until July 31 (having parts of our house remodeled so being kicked out to Disney for the summer... waaaa). Look forward to running into a fellow Disser. If I do not see you, I hope you and your girls have a wonderful trip!

Yes, bigdisneydaddy, I think you are right. We have three official members of the "unofficial" Sundee/FTW fan club!

Woooooooo Hoooooooooo! It took 38 years, but I'm finally a "groupie"! :cool1: :cool1:

I dont know about "groupie" it makes me feel cheap. :rotfl:

Before we bought our "big house" we lived in a double wide. Once we bought the "big house", we went out and bought our camper. My best friend is convinced that I am not happy unless I can live in something that has wheels. Can I upgrade "cheap" to "trailer park trash"? :rotfl2:

We (DW and I) sleep in ours during the summer while at home, its a great way to get away from the kids. I get accused of being a "redneck" by the guys at work all the time. I dont consider it a derogatory term.
