My life. Just got ten million times better.
I emailed sixteen different recording/mixing studios in Nashville, and look at two replies I got.
But first, I want to show you what I sent to them.
Hello.
My name is Lilly.
I'm thirteen years old.
I live in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
My dreams are to act and sing, and I'm not gonna go down until I get exactly what I want.
I want to record one song. Just one simple song.
What is your cheapest package?
I sent that. And you know prices for recording can be up to ten thousand dollars? And some LOW prices are one-two thousand.
Well here is an email I recieved from one of the studios.
Lilly,
I'm so impressed by your email that I'll help you out. Most likely for no charge. Call me next week. You are 13... correct?
Sincerely
Robin
WOO!
I also talked to me parents, and they are ALL FOR IT.
And he is a PROFESSIONAL MIXING MANAGER.
How lucky is that?

Here is a long one that I got. And look at the prices for THIS dude.
Lilly,
I admire your ambition and your business sense. But you also want to consider whether you will be happy with the final product. My partner, Curt Erdek, produces all the artists that use our studio. He has experience doing live sound for touring bands, festivals, clubs, and even TV. he has been doing "demo" recording for over 20 years.
One of our artists to check out is Uncle Lee. It is actually me. Curt recorded a live acoustic piano only. It sounds awesome. Check out our website and visit some of our other bands on MySpace. Keep in mind that the masters sound way better than the MP3s.
Even if you are asking to do one live take of you performing your song, he will capture it perfectly and artfully. He also does excellent mixing and mastering. Our product to you will be a mastered .wav file available for download.
Curt's hourly rate is $20. He could probably do what you are describing in an hour or two. Mixing and mastering, if it is that simple, will take little time. Lilly this could be as little as $20-50. But we do require that you credit Secret Studio for production in any commercial use of the demo.
PLEASE CONSIDER: how many takes do you want to try to make it perfect? If you want Curt to add a bass track or drums, or some midi, that could be more. He is an excellent musician. But you have not asked for that. You did not write us if you have a band, or want to record harmonies, for instance,
One last thing. Secret Studio is a cutting edge "virtual" indie label. We will be happy to discuss publishing you as one of our artists.
Best of luck to you. Please respond to this e-mail with your decision.
Sincerely,
Lee Altman
