My Dh and I just moved into a house in May . This is the house he grew up ing. We decided that the shrubs out front were to high and needed to be removed. Well He decided he was doing it Wendsday so I called in sick to work to help. Tonight after 2 days of my being sick and 1 day of his being sick all 4 shrubs are out and I started my flower bed I wanted!! Ok we are both sore and tired as it was a HUGE job for him. My question is What to plant!!!!!!!!!!

I love the physical aspect of gardening labor, even when it is destructive. It is necesary part of the cycle because now you have a CLEAN SLATE to work with. Lucky you!

I'm not an expert by any means but first I would think you have to figure out what your conditions are - How much sun does the area get, type of soil, etc. (All the boring but necessary stuff you need to know). Then read over some of these threads for ideas. A few people were starting off with a new area to plant as you are. Some of the threads have links to garden sites. Also, Mamu has threads highlighting different plants and the conditions they thrive under.

Most of all, have fun!
