a 10 foot Christmas Tree! I can't wait for Christmas now! John and I have always had a tree but we have never gone overboard for Christmas, my mom always has loved Christmas. She even collects Santa's and has a whole room that stays out year round full of them. So now we will get a real tree for the living room and have this huge 10 foot tree for the den! And she got it for a steal too, $40 dollars from a lady she goes to church with. The lady said the tree was $800 when she bought it 2 years ago!! I'm so excited!

Wow! I would love to have a 10 foot tree but with low ceilings, in our house, that would be a big problem!!:) :bounce:

My goodness $800 for a tree? Glad you got it for $40!!! I just started playing christmas music today. I am sooo in the christmas spirit already. I have been discussing with SO how we are going to decorate our tree this year. This is our first tree up here in Indy and we are getting a "real" tree!!!! Yea!!! I am so happy about that. I have never had a real tree before (sad isn't it?) Actually the other day SO brings up the fact that we will be in FL on Christmas day so maybe we shouldn't bother having a tree here in Indy if we aren't going to be "using" it. Ummmm yeah!! He now knows that that was the wrong thing to say!;)

LOL! The lady mom bought it from is a professional decorator and her house is gorgeous but she is moving to Nashville and clearing out. She also has a Grandfather Clock for $100 dollars. I told mom we would be crazy not to buy it. She has about the same size house as the one we just bought and has a total of 8 trees in her house every year (can you imagine?? I can't!) but she is selling all of her Christmas decorations, centerpieces, everything. We are supposed to go look at everything she is selling tomorrow and I am so excited! I think I may just pop over to Kazaa and download a Christmas CD! You have me excited not "R"

Sounds like your Mom got a great deal.

One of my husband's colleagues has a christmas tree in every room except the bathrooms and the kitchen every year. Very pretty.

Yeah definitely grab up that grandfather clock for $100 (provided it is in good condition, or would be cost affective to fix up). There is this clock store in our local mall and SO and I have gone in there and picked out exactly what types we would love to have when (and if) we ever do committ to building a house. SO says we should know by the beginning of next year if he might be transfered somewhere else, so I am crossing my fingers. I love the floor plan for the model we would build if the circumstances work in our favor. No matter what we will still be in our apartment for another year or so (we are happy here) so we don't want to purchase anything "big" until we know exactly what decorating schemes we would be going with in a house.

8 trees sound incredible. When I was little we had a max of 2. And one of those was a little mini table tree that was decorated just for me and put in my room, till I got older and then it went into the family room. The main tree was always in the living room. My aunt and uncle always had 2 trees. One was fake in their family room for my little cousin, and then the real one was my aunt's which she would "theme" decorate (Victorian and the like) and that would go in their formal living room -you know the one that she vaccuumed everyday in precise lines, and no one was allowed to walk on it and put foot marks on it, or sit on the furniture? What can I say, she was anal!

Wow shes worse than John!! LOL!

I love BIG trees!!

We always got one to our celing, but now our LR is 2 stories, so we won't be getting one that big:p

I'd have to bend it at the top to get it in my house. lol

It sure sounds pretty and a great deal.

Our den is 2 stories too, thats where the tree is going. Wow I can't imagine a tree touching the ceiling in here.....

HaHa, yes she was a little weird, but she was my favorite aunt. Too bad she and my uncle got divorced about 5 years ago. Now she lives back in Scotland, which is where she was originally from. She does come to the States to visit my cousin every year though, so I get to see her. Compared to some of the wackos my uncle dates, I would choose her any day, weird cleaning issues or not! It is sad you can not choose who your family members date isn't it? ;)

LOL! So true, I have one uncle who is dead now that was married a zillion times.....well I loved his first wife and to this day over all the other exs she is my aunt.

Beauty, that 10-foot tree sounds great! You'll have to show us a picture of it when it is decorated for Christmas.

my hubby knows that would be the wrong thing to say too!! we have a fake tree only for convenience...once we get a house, then we'll get the real tree...i just don't like dealing with all of the little needles everywhere. and inevitablt, the cat will eat those needles and, well, let's just say that it's not pretty...now the trick is how are we going to move our stuff around to make room for the tree? that process begins this weekend...

Wow, that was a good buy! We paid $800 for our 12 foot tree about 10 years ago. Unfortunately, it is probably in need of being replaced. We move into our new house in the spring, so maybe this will be the last year for this tree. WE have a 22 foot ceiling now, but the new log home will have a 32 foot peak. Not sure I want to decorate a larger one though!

Take pics, Beth. It should be marvelous.....:D
