Guaranteed admission with 2-park tickets?

I'm planning a 1 day 2-park visit during Easter break, using the 2-park express passes. Crazy expensive!!

I've heard that there are times when parks have gotten so crowded that they close to new admissions. Would this apply to someone who is switching parks midday on a 2-park pass?

It's alot of extra money to have the 2-park option, especially if admission to the 2nd park is not guaranteed.

Alternatively, could we buy 1-park tickets and 1-park express passes and upgrade them after we are at the first park? Would that be a time-consuming production? Where would we go for the upgrades?

Thanks to all for the many helpful posts!

if you buy a one day one park pass and wish to upgrade, go to guest services for that.
you would pay the price difference of the two.

you have to do that while you are still in the park.
do not leave the park, walk to the other park and try to upgrade to a two park one day ticket.

you can upgrade express plus pass and the park tickets at the same time at guest services.

the price for the 2 park one day express plus pass is cheaper than buying both park epp separately.

I'm unaware of any ticket available that would guarantee admission when the parks are closed due to capacity. If they can't let more people into the parks, they can't let more people into the parks...regardless of which ticket you have.

Agree..Once they close to capacity, it won't make a difference what ticket you have. They won't let you in

Thanks for the quick feedback!

We do plan to get there early for our first park, but if we left midafternoon for the second park, we could get shut out at that point.

With a 2 park ticket costing $35 more per person (plus an extra $10 for the 2 park express pass), that would be a lot of money that could end up being wasted.

Does it happen often at the peak/holiday times that parks close due to capacity? I did hear of it happening the week after Christmas.

Thanks again!

i have read that the park has to close when a certain number of guests are in the park. this is not an everyday occurence. holiday time mostly.
it's not that it will be closed the entire time though.
once peeps leave, staff will allow park guests to enter when given the green light by their supervisors.

since you are now aware of the situation, if you buy the one day pass, you can upgrade it. don't spend the money in advance if not necessary.

go to guest services to ask if the other park is closed before you upgrade.

Your best bet is to go to IOA first...that's the park that will close due to capacity...at least before the Studios anyway. The reason for IOA's past capacity closures is simple...WWoHP.
