Guarantee Status vs. IGT/OGT/VGT

Wondering what people’s general experiences are with booking 2 cabins at once (so they’re linked together) under a guaranteed rate. Wondering the likelihood they are near each other or even adjoining. I realize there’s no guarantee.

My travel party is looking at booking 2 guaranteed cabins this summer and we typically book adjoining as we don’t always sleep in our assigned configuration. Being assigned cabins far apart would dampen our desire to book this way.

Booked two IGT in April. Were assigned cabins next door to each other but not connecting (Magic's standard insides don't connect). Our FB group had a ton of other *GT rooms and higher categories were getting connecting rooms when they booked two guaranteed.

We didn't sleep in our planned configuration either. It ended up being the most annoying for me because I was 1) one of the folks sleeping in a different room than assigned and 2) the parent that had to bop back and forth the most between my room and the girls' room. I wore my MB+ and carried my husband's KTTW card but I'd inevitably try to band into the door that I needed the key for or vice versa. I would say it was a minor inconvenience (mostly because I'd get frustrated with myself when I was being silly using the wrong device to unlock the door) and for sure worth the significant cost savings.

We had discussed, as a family, the possibility that we'd get rooms far away and I'd end up staying with the girls while Hubby got a room to himself. However, we also knew that there were still large blocks of unassigned inside rooms when we booked and Disney would have plenty of opportunities to get us near each other. If the sailing hadn't had so many open rooms still near each other, we may have been more concerned about rolling the dice. But, for us, it was the difference between getting to take that trip and doing something non-Disney for Spring Break: everyone agreed sneaking in another DCL vacation at a great price was worth the risk.

4. Are you happy with your assignment or do you feel like you got a "leftover?" yes, I would have loved the larger family veranda but as long as I’m on a cruise I don’t care where I’m at on the ship. We aren’t prone to seasickness.

4. Are you happy with your assignment or do you feel like you got a "leftover?" Meh, not thrilled with the low deck & forward location. Nervous about it being under the After Hours locations but cabin reports say it's quiet.
