When my daughter was 9 she got a wish trip threw the Starlight Foundation. I am happy to report she is doing fine, and is 30 yrs old now, a teacher, married and the mother of 2. anyway, I have always wanted to give back something, for them sending us on an amazing trip. I don't think the Starlight Foundation is around any more. This ended up being the last trip we took as a full family. Our 16 yr. old son, died in a car accident a year later. I noticed on this board, that some people are volunteering at GTKW in Dec. I can not do this year, but it is defiantly something I want to do in the future. How do you go about this. Do you have to attend any classes. Who do I contact.I would love to take a week and just go help out. Can you give me a contact number or person. Thank you so much. Connie

If you go to the GKTW web site there is a volunteers area link that has all the specifics of what you have to do to volunteer. So sorry about the loss of your son, you must cherish the memories of that trip. http://www.gktw.org/

I am so sorry to hear about your son. :sad1:

You can also call them...

800-995-KIDS and they can probably help you out.

Also, anytime you are interested, you can click on the BLUE link in my siggie and we have a whole thread of wish families takings trips. And some write trip reports. You are welcome to come over there and say Hi and share your story with us.

Hugs to you!

PS - As a former wish family, you won't have to do as much to be able to come and volunteer/visit. There is a lot less paperwork. And you can go there and visit anytime and just spend some time there.

Thank you everyone. I did go to their site and I am thinking maybe when we go down in Sept., I am going to try to stop by. I have started to read a couple of the trip reports. MAW is a very special organization. It is so nice that they can go in Orlando, and be with other families that are facing some of the same problems.
