Grumble, grumble, grumble......

Just wanted to let off some steam here....

Eight of us are going skiing over the New Year and have booked it all independently - a long and involved story in itself, but not the main reason for my current grumblings. I had booked a 9-seater minibus with National on 10th November and rang on 11th to advise them of our flight times. So far, so good.

At the time of booking, the computer system wasn't coming up with an option for snow-chains, so we thought we'd sort that out when we arrived. DH was concerned about this, so I rang National this afternoon to ask whether their system could now add in the snow-chains, just to be on the safe side.

I was told that they were very sorry but the booking had failed because there were no 9-seaters available, and they'd tried to contact me to let me know, but obviously had the wrong phone number!!!!!!!!!! We didn't have a vehicle booked at all.

They said they would try their best to find an alternative supplier and ring me back within half an hour - that was two hours ago!

What really annoys me is that, if I hadn't phoned today, we would have turned up at the airport and only then found out that we had no transport to get to the resort.

I'm still waiting to find out if there is an alternative.

:( Just as well dh is cautious! Hope you get it sorted.

Hope you get it sorted Hilary. Where are you going?

It's always complicated organising large groups going on holiday, especially when it's skiing and there's lots more to worry about (ski hire, lift passes, lessons, etc). I once co-organised a group of 56 - never again, it was hugely stressful!

Rob

Thanks for the kind words :)
Rob, we're going to Les Menuires in les Trois Vallees. I'd never heard of the resort, so I hope it will be ok.

LOL! The ironic thing is that DH, DDs and I are only tagging along on the back of a large group organised by someone else, and I fondly imagined I was going to be able to just sit back and let someone else do all the organising! As it's turned out, there are now eight of us in a bit of a splinter group left to sort ourselves out.

Thanks for pointing that out incase I thought it was only the car to worry about! ;) LOL! :teeth:

A splinter group eh? Sounds intriguing :teeth:

Seriously Hilary - I do hope National come back with good news for you, do let us know what happens.

Is there another company you can use?

Les Menuires is fine. Not the prettiest resort in Europe (in fact it's probably the ugliest!) but it does have virtually unlimited skiing for all grades of skier. It also has access to high altitude runs in case the snow isn't brilliant (which it isn't at the moment). I'm sure you'll have a great time. I'm off to Tignes next weekend for the second trip of the season. Can't wait...

Rob

Hope you get it all sorted Hilary.

:( Oh dear, so many problems for people at the moment - and a holiday is supposed to be de-stressing experience:rolleyes: Hope you get the good news you need.

Les Menuires is good skiing - my brother was a ski-guide here one season a while back, you'll enjoy:D
