Dh, had to call his payroll office 2 weeks ago to change his main office location so he would actually receive his reimbursement checks (which are always WEEKS late). In doing so they somehow managed to clear out all of his information so that his paycheck was not direct deposited today as scheduled. In fact, it will take them a couple of days to get him back in the system, and then they are mailing his check, through office mail, then post office. And they are in NY and we live in PA. Proabably will take a week or more. We autopay nearly everything from simple fixes like direct deposits into our savings to auto paying our mortgages and gas bill we have at least $5k in outgoing payments going out today and Monday. I am so thankful that he happened to check today, what a mess if we didn't look! And still pretty stressful, transfering money around like crazy!
Keep thinking about when I was younger and made less and every penny was spent each paycheck - we wouldn't have been able to eat! Worst part was the ladies attitude , like he was inconveniencing HER! Grrrrr!
At least a small part of me was worried that dh had become that guy in the movie "Office Space " (thanks smitch 425 for correction) -stapler guy. I was worried he had been let go and nobody told him! So although frustrated, I guess I have a lot to be thankful for today!

That is pretty frustrating! I'm happy you have the money to cover your outgoing payments; many people would not. Of course the woman would be more kind if it were HER money that had to be rerouted for a week. Good luck getting it all resolved!

Sorry you have to deal with this. Hopefully it will be resolved quickly and the check comes fast. Good luck! :goodvibes

(BTW, the movie is Office Space, not The Office. Love that movie.)

The company should fed ex his check overnight. If it were me, I would be doing that for my employees. You can't expect your employees to live with no paycheck

Absolutely would not put up with it. It was their mistake.

This. When I went on maternity leave, there was a mishap made with my first paycheck on maternity leave and it didn't direct deposit like it was supposed to. My company overnighted my paycheck so I would have it.

Of course, Office Space! Dh is working from home today ...in the basement :rotfl:- at least we're having a good time with one aspect of all of this!

I agree! I worked in the accounting dept for a large corporation before I had kids and one month we switched to a new payroll system. All the employees who got paper checks got theirs, but all the direct deposits failed. I spent the entire afternoon writing A/P checks to employees and doing FedEx labels so they'd have them the next day. Also, every employee who had auto withdrawals that bounced due to the error got the fees reimbursed to them.

hmm, I wonder if it is because their payroll is outsourced? Or maybe dh didn't push the issue. I know he is planning on mentioning it to the CFO, who is his friend, and would oversee the whole thing, but dh tends to not want to ruffle feathers...at least at work :)

I outsource my payroll now and we had a problem where the checks did jot get directed deposit and they cut them for me to pick up since they are a local company. If they had not been, they would've fed exed them overnight. Good luck!! I hope you don't have to wait a week to get it!
