at Disney hotels (not all). .. Swan Dolphin and many other resorts...

I'm NOT HAPPY with parking fees on top of the bill. :(((

I hear you. We drive a lot to WDW and the daily parking fee at certain resorts is less than magical. :wizard:

OTOH, the people who fly in and don't have a vehicle would probably prefer the maintenance and upkeep on the parking areas be funded by those who use the lot instead of just increasing the nightly rate for everybody, parkers and non-parkers alike.

What parking fees? Are you staying on property?

The swan and dolphin aren't owned or operated by Disney. They charge a parking fee. I want to say around $15 a day? If I recall correctly it's pretty upfront on their website

Parking is free at our home-away-from-home, the Sheraton Vistana Resort (no sneaky resort fees either). And we pay $30 for an unlimited parking pass (14 days) for SeaWorld & Aquatica (parking at Discovery Cove is free). Its an excellent deal in comparison to other accomodation and park options.

Parking definitely has the potential to be costly, though, for those staying offsite and needs to be taken into consideration when planning the budget. We wouldn't go car-less in Orlando regardless of which family of parks we are visiting (we love exploring the area, and hate being slaves to the buses) so transporation costs have always been something we factor in.

I know that. And Ftr, the fee is about $25+ per day. I never said it wasn't on the site. IT'S THE PRICE that is ridiculous. Not the website.

Don't ever park at hotels in a big city if $14 a day seems high.
It's a cost like luggage fees and seat selection fees for airfare, that you have to factor into your total cost to figure out if you are happy with the price you are paying.

OP, just add the room cost and daily fees together to get your REAL room cost. It's all in the way you look at things. Take Disney World Resorts. Their room cost is higher but no parking fee & resort fee. Which appeals to your mind-set: nickel and diming, or just looking at the bottom line? At least Swan and Dolphin have FP+, Disney bus service, EMH at the parks, package delivery from parks, and free theme park parking, same as Disney resorts. They're very nice hotels, great dining, and for their large room size, they are well-priced (less than Disney Deluxe). And how about that location? It's to die for!

When we travel to large cities for dance, we pay about $50 a night to park at the hotels (NYC, Philadelphia, Boston, DC, Chicago...).

Don't forget the resort fee-I think it just went up to $23 a day.

Am I understanding this right? No parking fees if you stay on property?

If you stay at a Disney owned hotel (basically everything except swan, dolphin, sog and I'll throw bonnet creek in there) you can park for free at your hotel and theme parks

:scared: I would be more upset about that than I would be about a parking fee. At least I can avoid the parking fee by not renting a car, but the resort fee cannot be avoided. It should just be included in the room rate. IMO.

Parking is $5 a night at SOG~but, every room has a mini fridge! I just look at it like balancing out that way.

You do know all Disney resorts have fridges now free of charge right? I am not sure how paying for parking balances out.

There's your problem. You are referring to the Swan and Dolphin as Disney hotels and they are not. Disney does not charge a fee to park at their hotels. I would also never pay a resort fee. It is just a way to jack up the price.

As others have made clear, "a Disney Resort" is not the same as "a hotel on Disney property". In addition to the ones mentioned, there are 7 others near DTD that are on property.

Maybe if they charged everyone $25 a day for parking they could use the revenue to improve the bus service. I would take the buses if they came by every 5 or 10 minutes.
