I booked our September trip earlier in the year but the flash sale on the French site is bringing up much better prices. I thought I'd try and add on the meal plan but the lady I spoke to said I would have to pay the extra to do that.:confused3

I'm sure I've read about several people on here doing this so what are your secrets?!

You have to upgrade to take advantage of a different offer, in my case for instance we booked with 30% off at Cheyenne. When the free HB dining offer came out I tried to change my booking and got the same answer as you, so then I rang back and asked to upgrade to a Buffalo room and hey presto got the new offer, then a few days later I rang back and said I'd changed my mind and could I downgrade to a regular room, which was no problem, I begrudge paying extra for rooms at Cheyenne or Santa Fe :)

Sorry just re-read your post, you can add on a dining plan any time

Jill is right, you need to be getting a quote on the French site under their good offer for an upgrade on your current booking (so if you're booked into the SF or CH, a buffalo/rio grande room counts as an upgrade, or at the SF a Montana room does, at NBC Admirals Floor counts etc etc). So does going up a grade in hotel too of course.

If you booked online on the uk site can you upgrade by phone using the french offer? How would you do this? Thanks:confused3

Thanks for the replies. When you do this, do you specifically refer to the french offer (or whatever)? Does it matter if the new total price is less that I originally paid?

I first booked from Belgian site at 30% off. Then Netherlands had 40% off. I called the central reservation office in Paris and was able to upgrade from Sequoia Lodge to Hotel New York. Then French site offered 45% off. I called and tried to upgrade from standard room to lake view room. I was told a reservation modification could not be done for the Flash Sale. It must be a new reservation for the flash sale. The CM said I was lucky before and it should never be done. I wonder whether a lake view room is not considered an upgrade. Since I already had the meal plan, I did not ask about whether it could be done with a meal plan being added. I thought probably magic could only be allowed once. I wonder whether different CM respond differently. However, I have not tried again because of the long distance costs. I was on hold for 30 min last time before I was able to talk to an CM.

Pixie Dust!!

I always call the Central Reservations department in Paris to make an upgrade to my booking take advantage of any offers running in different counties at the time.

For my last trip a 50% offer was running after I booked my package at the Santa Fe so I moved my room from a Rio Grande to an Eldorado room and this triggered the discount on my booking.

If the CM says you can't do it just gently remind them that European Union Law states you can take advantage of any offer or sale running in any other European member country.

Does that apply to upgrades on existing bookings though? The person I spoke to the other day mentioned something about flash sales only being available to new bookings. I'm still going to try again though!

I can remember a few years ago when they were saying this, that flash sales were for new bookings only. I remember a few people cancelled and rebooked as even after losing their deposit they still saved a fair amount.

Try again this afternoon, you might get lucky then. BTW, you are phoning CRO at DLP, not the UK booking line?

Yes, I think I'm using the CRO number - it's the one I found in the useful info sticky above. My booking is only for one person after losing the booking fee and the deposit I wouldn't be making any savings if I cancelled and rebooked. The original deal I got was pretty good but if I booked now using the flash sale I could stay at the NYH with a meal plan for the same price as I've paid for the SL!

I will have another go later!
