Grrr So Frustrated with CM and POR

Ok so my TA called this morning and "booked" us a room under the discount. However we weren't actually given the discount, he booked the room under the rack rate price. Now the room category we need isn't available. We are a party of 5 so need an Alligator Bayou room and only royal rooms are available. So I'm frustrated with the CM but still holding out for someone cancelling.

So I decided to call Disney myself and double check availablity anyway. The CM I got was super friendly and took all my info then put me on hold while she looked for a room. When she came back on the line she was very rude and short with me. She said the only rooms available were the royal rooms and that our party was too big for the room. No surprised there. Then she preceded to tell me that I had too many people for an Alligator Bayou room and that I needed to cancel my reservation and book at a value suite room or get 2 rooms. She said that I cannot book any room at any moderate with a party of 5 unless my party included a child 9 or under. I felt like I was breaking the rules.

So am I ok or am I not allowed to have 2 adults and 3 teens/tweens in an Alligator Bayou room? No one said anything when I booked and I provided all 3 kids ages. I know the 3rd bed is small so planned on bringing an air mattress just in case.

I haven't heard of the fifth person needing to be 9 or under but my youngest is 7. The trundle bed does look like it is small though and I am not sure how an air mattress would work now that the beds are bigger. Sorry you had a rude cm.

The room description for Alligator Bayou has this:

"Some rooms offer a banquette bed. (Banquette bed is 35" X 65" and not recommended for Guests over 9 years of age)"

It doesn't say prohibited, but it sounds really uncomfortable for anyone other than a younger child. (A twin is 39" x 75" for comparison purposes). They probably want to make sure that you're not expecting a regular bed and then complain.

You can stay there with 5 people of any age. People come in all shapes and sizes. The 9 year old guideline is just that--a guideline. HTH:)

Thanks I feel better. I really don't want to break the rules but I can't afford 2 rooms or a suite. We a bringing a younger dd's friend so thought POR sounded just fine. My older dd is actually very short and small for her age and I know will be fine with the little bed. I will admit the CM had me very upset and pricing different room options but now I will leave things alone.

since you were unable to get the SPD discount (assuming that's what you are referring to as not being able to get the deal), have you considered trying for a resort room-only discount, and then adding the package components? you may be able to save that way.

In our experience, 2 rooms at a value has been a better price than 1 room at a moderate. You should check into it. That way everyone would have a little more space to spread out.

Sorry you had such an awful time. Come join us at the Ft Wilderness cabins, room for your whole crew :)

We stayed last November with a family of 5 at POR. All of my children were teenagers. My 15 yr old daughter slept on the Murphy bed just fine. Granted she is about 5 ft and under 100 lbs. I booked through Disney and while they didn't recommend it, they didn't stop me from booking it. I would do it again in a heartbeat!!

Hi,

I just wanted to mention that I was just lookin online and there seems to be rooms available at POR in all categories under the play/stay/dine deal. I booked earlier for POFQ and at first it said no rooms available but for whatever reason it let me make the reservation and the email says that I booked the French Quater. Maybe booking online might work to get AB.

Can I just ask this question? I get why you were irritated with the CM who gave you bad info and was curt with you. But why aren't you even more aggravated with your TA who booked your reservation wrong in the first place?

Hi there no need to be worried!!!! Our family of 5. Went last year and the children's ages were 11,12, and 14. We stayed in the newly renovated rooms in AB with a Murphy type bed for our 11 year old. We are also going again this year 68 days to go..not all the CMs are knowledgeable ..have a great time ..we will

The TA didn't make the mistake, the original CM who booked it did. The TA just didn't realize the mistake until later, then called backed waited on hold for 2 hours and wasn't able to rebook it with the discount.

I priced out 2 rooms at a value and its $468 more than 1 room at a moderate. I'm going to stick with POR and not worry, I've always wanted to stay there but dh LOVES CSR so I'm happy for a change.
