Here’s a link to another story about it. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...ch-accused-touching-child-pleads-not-n1065236
Is everyone aware of this dirtbag? My daughter says she doesn’t recognize him. https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/crime/article236028558.html
This just goes to my thought of having cameras that parents can view while their child is checked in to the club.
imo DCL should only have female CM's in the kids clubs. No men near kids at all. I'm a man and I'm 100% for banning male CM's around kids. 95% of paedos are male. it's sad but its the way this world is.
I worked for an adoption agency for a few years. We did thorough background checks on everyone. The biggest issue we had was the people who lived overseas at some point. Many foreign countries do not have sex offender registries so it is next to impossible to research them. Considering most of the people not he ship come from different, countries, you can see why it would be hard to be thorough. Even in the states, Georgia went without a registry for a very long time. Up until 2014 I think. While this incident is shameful and I would hope DCL reviews and changes their policy based off this incident in how they hire CM's for the youth clubs your assertion that this would solve the problem is incorrect.
Also for it to show up they would have to have something on their record. The people who work in the kid clubs are pretty young, chances are they have nothing on their record even if they are creepos. There is no way to keep your kid 100% safe but I am glad that this one incident (while bad) was not worse, and that is probably due to the systems that Disney has in place. A good reminder to have a talk with your kids about inappropriate touch and what to do about it.I worked for an adoption agency for a few years. We did thorough background checks on everyone. I am surprised that people are surprised. This isn't the first time something like this has happened on DCL. There was an officer involved in an elevator incident a few years ago. Another issue with a state room host with a young person in their stateroom. It happens.
Its a floating city of strangers. Ones who paid to be on vacation and ones we are paying to be on for our service. Strangers! I recently read a post about how a person paid the premium to sail on DCL because something like this could never happen. Pffttt. Of course it could, did and will happen again in the future. We need to teach our children to report these things, like this child did, and we need to make sure they travel with someone they know, not just someone they met online before the cruise. I mean do you know their parents?
I'm not a helicopter parent but I'm also not lenient either. I don't leave my child alone with someone I have only spoke to online, only met once. Having said that, knowing the adult doesn't necessarily make a difference either but its a start.
Sorry if this sounds like a lecture. I just get so frustrated when I read people tell others they are silly for worrying about letting their children run free. After all, its Disney......
Agreed that their attempt to hide this is atrocious...now that it’s out I want to know what they have to say.

I see more female teachers getting in trouble then men in schools. Cant discriminate on what may happen. How will it remedy cases like these?
Are you going to be watching your kid on your phone/nanny cam 8 hours a day, while sunbathing by the pool, while sipping a drink at a bar, etc?
This is an awful case and I think parents should pressure DCL for stricter background checks on their CM's

Yes I would have the video stream up randomly throughout the day when kids would be in there. You would also have everyone else randomly looking in throughout the day. You would also have someone looking to do something under the table who would likely feel way more likely to get caught.
To be honest I am surprised they don't already have that or someone from central Disney security monitoring these places.
First off having a publicly available "video stream" from the clubs would be a huge violation of the privacy of other children in the clubs. Casting a black mark against DCL for this individual doing this despicable act isn't really fair as they took action, removed the CM immediately, handed him over to the police and provided the video footage to the authorities to prosecute this case. Sadly there are bad people everywhere, Disney I'm sure uses all every available method to vet their employee's as much as they can with in the laws. Accusing them of not doing enough is not going to be productive or even practical, share the horror, feel anger towards the perpetrator but don't hold Disney responsible for something that the wouldn't have happen in a million years if they had any way to prevent it.Yes I would have the video stream up randomly throughout the day when kids would be in there.
