We are completely short-staffed at work. Due to my boss' horrible management style, we've lost 3 people in the last year. Due to expense management at the company, we were unable to rehire any of those positions (some of you may remember my interview threads last Summer).
Anyway, we do have fund for a freelance writer. I gave her a project today, explaining I needed the outline turned into narrative. I asked her to keep the content under the 5 headings in the outline. So, I'd end up with 5 sections to the overall piece.
After I left, the freelance writer evidently met with my boss to update my boss on the freelancer's projects. My boss told the freelancer that she (my boss) didn't think headings were necessary (my boss hadn't seen the outline, content, or anything - I'd just told her I was working on the content item). So, I check my e-mail tonight and the freelancer wrote it as one long narrative, which totally doesn't work!!!
So, now I'm rewriting the piece to be put under the original headings of my outline. Grrr... My boss wants me to manage my own project, then always butts her nose in and screws it all up!! This is the fourth time in about two weeks this has happened. When I tried to talk to my boss about it last week, she blew me off, saying it was no big deal, and that's what a "team" does - helps each other out!
I swear, I spend more time managing around my boss' "help" than I do on getting my work done.

. I have to clean up a lot, which really cuts into my work (and DIS) time.
