Help please - could someone here just write down the steps for how to make these frames?

I have photoshop cs and photoshop elements but am still learning how to use both. I tried and tried to figure it out last night with no success. :headache:

I have some ideas for frames and promise to share them here - if you can just help me figure out how to do it.

Anyone?

Hey Barrie, welcome to the thread. Seems to be VERY slow lately. I have photoshop elements 2.0 & 4.0. It's really trial and error. I open up a new project & make it about 10x8, or whatever size you want your frame to be & have the background transparent. From there you can bucket fill your background or use a pattern & then use the selection tool to "cut out" the inside of your frame. You can then add clipart, layer styles, effects, text, etc. Some people also use wallpaper found on the internet to make frames. I don't have the time today to really go through step by step on how to do it, but when I get a chance, I can type something up in WORD. I have 2 little ones that keep me on my toes so it's hard to really sit at the computer these days for more than 5-10 minutes at a time.

Barrie, The frame looks awesome!!! I tried inserting a pic & it did not work though because the "cut out is not transparent. I then erased the center & was able to do it. Thhis is what i got. All my Disney pics are on disc so I used this one of my 5 year old (isn't she beautiful?)

Susan - Thanks for testing it. One question though - did you actually download one of the files from the links below the photo frame? Or did you copy the photo of the frame that is in the post? Because I did make it transparent but when I posted the picture link somehow it got turned into a jpeg. That's why I posted the links to the gif and png files below it. But if the gif and png files aren't working that is a different problem.

ps - your daughter is indeed beautiful!

For a first try you did very well. I copied your frame by right clicking on it and saving it to my hard drive, then made the "picture" part transparent and then inserted Susan's daughters cousins picture in the frame. For uploading, the picture should be in .gif format. That may be why the background looks black.
