We have group reservations that includes admission tickets and we are considering adding the Disney Dining Plan to our package. Does the Dining Plan require participation from all group members, or can we add the Dining Plan for only a few members of our group?

I'm pretty sure that everyone has to participate in the dining plan. So, you would have to purchase it for each person in your group. But it sure is worth it!!!

Yes, everyone has to purchase the plan. I wouldn't say it's worth it for everyone, though. That all depends.

Check with Disney about that. I think it is all people in the same room must participate, but I didn't use it when I scheduled a GG, so the rules may be different. The main thing is to look at the members of your group 10 years and older, and decide if they eat enough for the DDP. Spending $38/day on a picky eater will be much more in the long run, especiaaly if there are several of them! For adults, kids 9 and under, and good eaters... I would go with the DDP. We saved approx $300 using it for my family of 4 for a week.

I'm not even sure if guests booking resorts with a group rate are even eligible to purchase the dining plan. I'd check on the rules first.

You might be able to purchase meal vouchers, not great deal but it will give you some savings and allow guests to pre-pay for some meals.

IF the rooms are discounted you are not supposed to be able to get the Dining plan - for example, everyone attending for our wedding is inelidgible for the DIning plan if they use the wedding room discount.

We still figure we're saving money by having the room discount, so it's probably a wash and maybe we can save money on food with the DDE card and sharing some larger meals.

It depends on the discount. Some discounts still qualify for the Dining Plan. In cases where a reservation is eligible for the Dining Plan, all folks associated with ANY of the rooms associated with that one reservation must purchase the Dining Plan. If you want to have some rooms with and some rooms without, you'll need to be sure that the hotel arrangements are made as separate reservations.
