Groundhog Day at Walt Disney World - New 5/2 - pg. 20 - 3 Updates/new PTR link

:lmao: I so agree w/ Heidi that was a good laugh...though I'd probably look the same ;) [on splash]

good wrap up to the trip and your lessons learned we always come home w/ those huh

moving forward to some new schedule/positive behavior renforcements for Nov...I am :thumbsup2 w/ your ideas so far.

I really need to stress for all and mostly Nathan/Bekah that this is a family trip...not a Nathan trip or a Bekah trip...so we really keep to that ideal for the most part. hence my TOP 5 lists and everyone aware of what things we will TRY to do and then there is always time for repeats, it's a seperate build in. Like your boys my kids don't all like the same things either, I can see how sperating into the groups of two works easy for you, but I can also see how it takes away from family time...

Amy I don't need to tell you "our" lives are full of schedules and things for this kid and then this kid and so on...Disney is a respite for us and them and a very needed together time for my crew :goodvibes

I like Heidi's idea and you can use it almost like your own FP system where they are allowed so many repeats in a single day even :thumbsup2

the reward system for food or souvie is great and I felt very in control of the souvie spending last Nov for us w/ my souvie reward coupons that were given out.

Like Jess I use the food reward system for Nathan often (at home)...it is a motivator for him, he likes food ;) in resonable sesnse it can help keep kids happy. and for him it's like payment for his repsonsiblites. (and I want to make sure anyone reads this doesn't read it like I am encouraging unhealthy eating)

And of course I'd be happy to help brainstorm ideas and designs for any type of guidebook to help the boys have a successful trip and make Mom/Dad happy too :goodvibes

Awesome report Amy. I love that, even as Disney veterans, we can take lessons from each trip to make the next one that much better!

Cute Splash Mountain pic! :rotfl:

Off to the new PTR! :thumbsup2

So how will this effect our plans for future trips? First of all we're going to switch things up a bit by visiting in November & keeping the emphasis on doing things we can only do in November - MVMCP, Osborne Lights, Food & Wine. We're also going to work in a night off for Tim & me to celebrate our anniversary. Plus we're staying on-site at BWV or BCV!!

I also picked up some great ideas from a couple of my fellow spectrum moms. Heidi suggested "Repeat Passes" allowing the boys to repeat their favorites - but in a more limited fashion!

Fabulous report. I love seeing the boys have so much fun. A holiday trip will be awesome. I really missed seeing the lights and all last year.

The idea of limited repeat passes sounds very good. ::yes::

I'll be coming along for your next trip, too. Thanks for sharing this one.

Came over to check this out from your new PTR...great trip despite the bumps along the way and love all the pictures!

Hmmmmm, I know I typed up a response to this I wonder where it went?? :confused3

Oh well, loved the Splash pic. Next time I think I'll wear my poncho, for some reason I always get "lucky" and get soaked. :rotfl:

Glad to hear you are a plan for next time to try and head off some of the issues of this past trip. Love the repeat ride pass idea! :thumbsup2

We use rewards ALL the time with Daniel. Nothing works better than a food reward. :lmao: As for souvies we established a rule a few trips ago, no buying anything until we've visited all 4 parks and they can see everything available then they can pick something and they have their own money for it too.

Off to catch up on your new PTR.....

Not only are we going to emphasize that this isn't an "Alex trip" but we are going to emphasize that this is mom & dad's anniversary trip & they were lucky to be invited along. :rolleyes1

I can't wait to start working on the guidebooks for the boys!!

Thanks MeMom! I hope Disney at a different time of year will be a new experience for us. Thanks for reading along... and being part of the story!

Don't you hate when replies disappear! :confused3

I always manage to be the one who gets a huge splash of water in the face! :headache:

Food rewards have always been very effective for Alex. Zach is such a people pleaser (to the point of letting people walk all over him) so we've never really needed to bribe him. His behavior issues are more sensory or emotional - not something he can control even with strong incentive. Simple praise does the trick for him.... although we have to be careful & make sure he gets as many "goodies" as Alex.

I just went back and read your last 3 posts... I love that picture of you on Splash!!!:rotfl: That's what I look like too! Only with my sweater covering my head. As though that will keep my hair from getting wet!

Your Easter pictures are great too. I love spring back home. Living in the north really makes you appreciate when the warm weather finally gets there!

Happy Mother's Day Amy!:flower3: Hope you have a fantastic day with your family!:goodvibes

Thanks Cara!! I hope you get to talk to your mom & son today!

I'm sure that's how I always look on Splash - but this is the first time we've gotten a picture. I had to buy it because I looked so funny! I always wear a poncho on Splash. Maybe I won't wear it if we ever go there is the summertime - but that's pretty unlikely.

I agree that living through the long cold winters really makes you appreciate the spring. I get the windows open as soon as it hits 60!
