ground transportation options

I am going on a 7 days land and sea later this year. I did not take ground transportation option when I book the cruise, since I was thinking to rent a car from airport then return it at the DCL terminal. But when I talk to my travel agent yesterday, she told me even I did not take the ground transportation option when I book the cruise. Disney resort will still pick me up for free from airport. So now my question is should I still rent a car from Disney Resort to DCL terminal or I can only book ground transportation from Disney Resort to DCL terminal from DCL?

You say that you did not take the ground transportation option when booking. It is my understanding that ground transportation is included with your trip unless you specifically decline it. One of the joys of doing the 7 day combo is the seemless transportation and luggage transfers for you.
My other quesiton is " Why do you need a rental car?" Are you going off property at all? Your TA is correct with WDW new Magical Express, you have free transportation to and from the airport. But with that, you still have to get to the port for the cruise and then back to the airport upon return.
I would use the DCL ground transport. The best part is that DCL will do all of your bagge handling. This is great for us with a family of six. I believe that the ground transfer option is about $200-$250 for a family fo four.

I am going to west palm beach instaed coming back after the Cruise, so I will have to rent a car after cruise anyway. That's why I was planed to rent a car. the ground transportation option for us was $240. it is almost enough for me to rent a car for 4 days. with a rental car I could drive around if I want to. Now, with free shuttle from airport to the resort and I have no plan to use the rental car during the 4 days WDW stay. I don't really feel I really need one. Then the issue will be how to get to the port from my resort? DCL ground transportation are for airport to resort then to port and go back to airport.
