I have a half-baked idea to plan a Thanksgiving trip. Flying in on Thanksgiving Day is what is going to work best (I have the whole week off but the husband does not.) Has anyone done this and what was your experience with availability of ground transportation? I understand there will probably be holiday surcharges which I am totally fine with.

Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day tend to be slow travel days since most people who are traveling have already arrived at their destination. We have rented cars on those days and never had an issue, but we made reservations ahead of time. I would think those car service places probably have fewer people working due to the lower level of travel expected and giving some of their people time off for the holiday, so I would be sure to make a reservation well ahead of time to avoid surprises.

Thanks, you all have pretty much confirmed what was on my mind (low travel day, but less staffing and closed stores.) Now I have to decide if I'm going! As you can see from my signature 2020-2022 has been the saga of cancelled and postponed trips, I just need to get the husband on board with going at a busy time of year!
