I am a total newbie to this board and have never been to California. We had an unexpected chance to visit DL, so I am doing some last minute scrambling and this board has been a HUGE help!

Does anyone have recommendations for ground transportation from LAX? There are 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids). It seems like it may be easier and almost as cheap to just hire a car rather than take the shuttle and wait around for it to fill up. Any recommendations?

If you aren't intimidated driving in LA, they car is a good option, even if you mainly keep it parked once you are on Disney property.
The other two options that many people use are Super shuttle, and Airport bus. You could search these two terms and get lots of info!

What have you heard about Golden West Express, Judy?

I think we will use them for our DL/West Coast cruise trip in July.

We used super shuttle and it worked fine.

Right out the front of the airport -just approach the staff with the clipboards, tell them you want to go to anaheim and you'll be on your way in 15-20 minutes.

You might have to cruise the airport until the shuttle is full (which won't take long) and then it's a lottery whether your hotel is the first or the 4th - we were the 4th but it still only added about 5 minutes to our trip.

From door to door it took about an hour and cost $15 per head plus tip.

I personally haven't heard of Golden west, but it might be quite reputable. We usually use airport bus, because i like the roomier "greyhound" type seats . Super Shuttle is probably more convieniet (I can never spell that!)if you aren't picky like me!

Has anyone tried taking the Amtrak train from Los Angeles to Anaheim? I will be there in about 3 weeks. Flying into LAX, but the hotel is in Anaheim. The ticket was only around 8 dollars. But I'm not sure where the train station is in comparision with the airport. First time in CA. Thanks for any info.

:cool1: Hi re ground transportation other than renting a car wouldn't reccomend unless you are going to be travelling around. There is the airport bus and the super shuttle. You get these at designated areas outside the arrivals at LAX. Airport bus is cheaper not a lot buses are usually on the hour apprx in busy times do not need a reservation biggest draw back depending on which hotel you are staying at you may get quite the tour of hotels before you get to yours. The super shuttle is a van usually carries up to 6 - 7 people and goes to only one or 2 hotels little more money. We would reccomend this you can either book on line or phone or phone when you arrive at LAX. I wouldn't recommend the amtrak unless its changed first you whould have to get to LA union stn then out to Anaheim then get a cab from there to hotel GO WITH SUPER SHUTTLE :sunny:
