Hi everyone, We need a ground cover for a rocky hard to mow & maintain area. Has anyone used clover. Is it invasive to a grassed area. Would a nursery carry it?

There are a ton of nice ground covers. Candy tuft is my favorite. I also like vinca. I'm wondering if you mean crown vetch when you say clover.....

I also love small hostas as ground cover but they do die back to the ground in the fall (as do some other ground covers).

Most garden centers have an area with just ground covers....they are quite popular and easy to maintain.

Have fun picking them out!

You might want to rethink planting clover, it's very invasive.

I use vinca, periwinkle and pachysandra in areas that are rocky and hard. Another one I've had success with is euyonomous. I have the varigated one. It spreads like crazy with very little fuss but you can rip it out if you don't want it and it won't come back.

Don't plant ivy!! Big thread about that last season. It ruins everything.:earsgirl:
