have now read on a few posts that the grotto pool will be closed for the majority of our vacation. How did anyone get this information. I have called reservations and dolphin concierge and they do not know about closings as of now and don't get notified until 1 week in advance

I called the front desk at the Dolphin and they switched me to the conference department and they told me about the closings.

hi thanks did they tell you exactly when and which pools are closed? we are there 13-21 and are not doing much parks, this is just a hang around the pool vacation!

The 14, 16, 17 and 18 around 3:30 pm. They didn't tell me what time they reopen. I have just been informed that even though all these dates are blocked the convention will probably only take one date. They just haven't decided which one yet.

Does this pool close often? We are visiting WDW in October and staying at the Dolphin. Am hoping the pool isn't closed then - my son loves to play in pools!

It's my understanding that they will keep at least one pool open, like the spring and baby pools. The spring pool is a nice sized pool, not too deep, and is warmer than the main Grotto pool.

which pool is the spring pool? That seems awful unfair that they would close the pool for 4 days in one week!

Disnurse, the Spring Pool almost looks like it's a part of the Grotto Pool, in fact, it shares the same 'area', but it is separated by a small covered walkway.

To disnurse:

I think the above poster said that there were 5 possible dates for closure, but the convention would pick only one of these five. But then I wonder what if there are a few conventions what would happen.

I called down about my trip, and asked for conventions, they gave me a women and she told me that nothing is confirmed til about 30 days before your trip. I was then transferred to someone higher in conventions and he encouraged me to call back to him 30 days before we arrive. Hope this helps,

Deb.

yes that does help. Being closed and possible closings are 2 entirely different things. Not all that concerned if its a day but 4 days is just too much.

I completely agree with you disnurse. Why don't you call down and ask to talk to a manager in conventions, when your date is near? Just a suggestion.

DEb.
