Grosvenor Resort

Any thoughts or recommendations on this resort?

We got a room there for $37 per night by going through Hotelkingdom.com I've stayed there a couple of times before and always been pleased. It's not disney, but it's 1/2 the price of a value resort and means we stay longer.

I haven't seen the greatest reviews on it. I won a $35 PL bid for Thanksgiving weekend there, and am hoping it isn't too bad...

We spent our first night here before heading to the Wilderness Villas - we paid 88.00 which isn't great compared to what you all are getting - the lobby seemed nice and the check in person was very nice and helpful. The room was clean and big enough for the four of us. Bathroom was SMALL!! Didn't like that part.

The room had a fridge in there so we got some waters and stashed them.

here's my beef - the doors on the room slam shut! I cannot begin to tell you how many times I was awakened by someone returning or leaving their room in the night and it slamming - there was also a group of people who decided to have a reunion in the hall at 1030pm again (screaming, etc) and then again at 230am (yelling, screaming,etc). Needless to say, I was unhappy!!

I didn't check out the restaurant or pool or anything so can't help anyone there. I know I personally wouldn't go back just because I need my sleep!! We were up and out the door by 7:15am.

Stayed there in December, 2002. Also booked for a good price at $49 a night. We stayed in the courtyard area, our friends stayed in the tower. The tower is a bit nicer, and easier to get in & out of. They are very picky, and they were happy with the room I agree with previous that for the price, it is a nice stay. Place was clean, bathroom was clean, and the room was normal size motel room. The trip was adults, so pool, etc was not an issue. We were off to the parks by 8:30, back late also.

I also agree about the noise, but that is in the courtyard. It feels more like your standard Days Inn setup, with rows of rooms. The tower feels more elegant.

Have a great time - and enjoy the money you saved by staying here. Thats what we did.

Attached is my rating for the Grosvenor:

Staff: A

Every need we had, towels, front desk checkin, bellhops, top notch. I do not have a single complaint

Room: C-

Space was adequate. Bathroom, extremely small, so small in fact that you could not enter the shower without shutting the door. Also, there was an overwhelming smell of urine at all times in the bathroom, could have been cleaner. Also, vacuuming appeared to be a low priority in the rooms on a daily basis.

Pool: B

Proximity to Disney/Travel to disney: C

Distance to downtown disney is fairly close. For us however with a 3 year old it was quite far. Also, the bus service from the resort to MK, EPCOT, AK etc.. was fine going to the park, coming back was another story as you are last for about 5 or 6 other resorts. We figured that we lost approximately one day of our 7 day trip riding the bus to and from Grosvenor from the parks. They also advertise the convenience of being able to ride to Downtown Disney and walking back back to the resort, this is ok as long as you ride back while DD is still open, Sat. night MK stayed open till 11:00 pm and we rode back to DD, disney buses refused to drop us off at Market place because it was closed. Ultimately we had to walk with a sleeping 3 year old (40 pounds of dead weight) from PI to Grosvenor. Please don't take this as a bash, just be aware that for families with small children who need to nap in the afternoon, it is not the most convenient place to stay travel time wise.

How can you beat $560 for 7 nights?

Restaurant: B

Not bad, little boy really enjoyed the Character breakfast.

Overall: B

For the bargain shopper it is the place, we will stay at a Disney property from now on simply for convenience of travel.
