I discovered this nasty thing just about 5 minutes ago, I'm home alone so I can't get the parents to take care of it...it's just soooo big! Can any of you identify what it is?!

Looks like a really big millipede. Just smoosh it, they die pretty easy.

Yuck - a millipede or centipede!

If you can catch it - kill it! You don't want that sucker multiplying in your house! ;)

I've never seen one of those in person thank goodness. That's one I'd be calling my husband to squash.

Icky - centipede (or a creepy crawlie as it is known in my house). We get them when it's damp outside. The LOVE my bedroom in the middle of the night for some reason.

I've never seen one of those! I would have run out of the house, seriously. I can't handle bugs with more than 4 legs.

We get them too. I am so afraid of them. Those suckers are so fast.

:scared1:

ITA

I would run screaming like a little girl.

This is a really disgusting little creature called a "house centipede". Yes, squishing it will kill it easily... IF you can catch the little bugger! They run really really fast. They like low, damp areas such as basements, and tend to stick to the area of the floor nearest to the wall or furniture. No amount or type of chemical will kill these guys!! You need to set up glue traps in all the corners of every room in your house, quick, before they multiply. I had these in my basement and we tried everything to get rid of them. We bug bombed the basement after seeing about 3 of them, and though it didn't kill them, it did help to chase them out - there were probably 50 that were suddenly chased through the walls into the upper floors of the house! It was SO GROSS, it was like a bad sci-fi movie!! They remind me of the huge bugs in "Starship Troopers" (only a little smaller). You need to tell your parents as soon as they get home so they can get rid of them.

Take a rolled up paper and squash it. It's what two inches long and your :thumbsup2 what 5 feet tall. I think you'd win that fight!

Ok, my skin is crawling just looking at that thing. If I was home alone, I would have a heart attack trying to kill it. I'd want it gone for fear it would crawl on me in the middle of the night. I'd be flinching the whole time trying to kill it. Good luck to you!

Oh god. I'm scared. I'm serious. There are two things in this world I am afraid of. Spiders...and other insects.

GAH! I'm thinking of one of the following options, either to A)Squash it myself (but it's in the crevice between the ceiling and the wall so I could MISS) or B)Wait impatiently for mother to come home.

Thanks for yer input! I'm looking them up right now.

Ewww, I just killed two of those in my apt last week. Those suckers move faster than any insect I've ever seen!!! I was wondering what they were. :crazy2:

well you're in better shape than I would be if I saw one. I'd have run outside if I saw it. But I do think glueboards would be your best bet at trapping it.

It's a Extraterrestrial!!!!!!! :scared1:

Its come to take you back to its planet!!!!!

RUN RUN RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!

Be strong, hun - if I can field dress a deer, you can squash that bug - lets all chant - "SQUASH THAT BUG!, SQUASH THAT BUG!, SQUASH THAT BUG!"

The problem is if I miss it will run hiding. And if I hit it, it will give off a scent that attracts the whole centipede family!

If this is the baby centipede...I don't WANNA meet the mother. I'll just wait for my mom to come home. She should be here in about 30 minutes. I'll give everybody an update to what happens.

-shudder-

:rotfl: The rest of the Pedes won't come running. They're not related to the Bees.
