Gross Topic - Toenail Fungus

Not sure if my little toe nail has fungus or not. But over the last few months, that nail has gotten really thick. Only that one nail. It doesn't hurt or anything but nearly impossible to cut. Anyone know what that is?

I have a little of this, from a pedicure...
I bought a 2% antifungal cream, meant for female yeast infections. I apply it with a little light olive oil, to help it soak in.
I do think this is working.
Once it is there, though, the affected nail has to completely grow out. The nail doesn't heal or repair itself.

Regular antifungal creams in the foot-care section are only 1%
So, I am hoping that the stronger one will work better.

I think the reason that topical treatments do not work well on nails, is that they do not soak in well enough.
I am hoping that the olive oil will help with that, too.

I can see soaking one's feet, and those things are supposed to help.
But, twice a day... who has an hour a day, every day, to soak their feet!!!

My sister takes the Lamisil.

There is another treatment you can get...I will have to Google. My sister's doc office offered it as a option however it was not covered by insurance and it was very expensive.

Laser and light-based therapies. More study is needed, but these methods — alone or with medications — may help your nails improve. One study tested the effectiveness of carbon-dioxide laser therapy combined with antifungal nail cream. Most of the 24 people in the study benefited from the treatment.

Laser and light-based therapies are not available everywhere, are expensive, and often are not covered by insurance.

This sounds gross, but when I had it the toenail softened and it fiinally fell off and it never came back.

Sounds like toenail fungus.
