Ok ladies, I need some help! I am having such a difficult time picking out DF's shirt/tie/vest combo for the wedding. Picking out my dress was a breeze, but this? Not so much!

Here's my dilemma...the color of my wedding dress is pearl. I am having a heck of a time figuring out what color to put DF in. His tux will be black. I am afraid that a white shirt will make my dress look funny because it's clearly not white white. However, the ivory shirt that Men's Warehouse has is kind of yellowy. That being said, I clearly can't decide on a vest/tie. DF and I spent over an hour in our local MW with a swatch of my dress and it doesn't match ANYTHING. Any thoughts? I am desperate! TIA! :goodvibes

Why not skip the white all together and go for shirt/tie/vest in your main color or a pattern with the colors in it. This is what we plan to do. I think it can be fun and unexpected to step outside of the box.

Good suggestion! Otherwise, I say stick with white. Yes, you will know they don't exactly match, but it's really not going to be that obvious to guests or in pictures. :thumbsup2

Thanks girls! DF actually convinced Men's Warehouse to let me take a tux to my bridal salon so I can put the dress next to the tux and see whether or not I like it! :woohoo:

If your dress is anything other than white, go with ivory shirts! I worked in a bridal shop/tux rental store for years and if your dress is not pure white and you go with white tux shirts, it WILL make your dress look dirty in pictures! It might not be apparant just looking at the two, but it is pretty obvious in pictures.
I would confirm with Men's Warehouse that do not have a softer, less of a true ivory shirt as many tux rental agencies offer 3 shades of white/ivory shirts now. Good luck!

yeah, my mind is slow today! My sister got married a few months ago and the guys wore cobalt blue shirts with black ties and it looked very sharp! In fact, their groomsman gifts were the shirts and ties, with the ties being custom made on etsy. The guys appreciated it since all they had to bring was black pants and shoes, and most already owned them.

Your hubby shouldn't wear a rented tux for the wedding.

He should wear a black jacket, with satin or grosgrain peak lapels (no notch, those are not formal).

A waist coat (vest) of matching material (contrasting is for groomsmen, not groom).

Flat Front, straight leg pants with a stripe matching the lapels of the jacket (satin or grosgrain).

A self tie bow tie

A turn down collar white shirt (the brooks brothers golden fleece is slightly off-white, not quite ivory, not quite stark white).
