DFi I "obsessed" with having a Grooms Cake.

He wants a sheet cake cut in the shape of the Sorcerer Hat covered in blue fondant and have yellow stars and a moon on it.

Our wedding cake is going to be a 3-tier white fondant cake with blue and yellow stars and moons. The top and bottom tier is going to be "cookie cut" stars and moons, the middle tier is going to be outlines. (I wanted a bunch of different Mickeys, but I'm afraid of the cost for that)

I'm not sure if we're going to save our top tier yet, and I'm just worried that a 3-tier cake + a sheet cake is going to be way too much cake for 30-40 people. He has made his argument of his cake would be orange with some sort of fruit filling. The wedding cake hasn't been fully decided yet, but 1 layer will be marble cake.

I'm thinking of seeing if we can have his cake at the rehearsal dinner. Is this really odd or uncommon?

Nope, not uncommon at all. A lot of people have the groom's cake at the rehearsal dinner. I would definitely go that route, considering you already have three tiers for only 40 people. You will have a lot of extra cake! :rotfl: Of course, you could always give an extra slice of cake to the guests as favors if he really wants it during the reception. Just find some pretty boxes to put a slice in and stack them near the exit. You can even make it a pretty display:

Okay, I'll make sure to let DFi knows it's not uncommon. Then he'll be okay with it. He also questioned my Man of Honor instead of a Maid of Honor, but I told him Carrie had a Man of Honor and he's okay with it now. :lmao:

I had thought about getting to go boxes for the cake, and encouraging people to take a piece or two with them.

Martha is too fancy for me :rotfl2:

Dear David,

You should totally have your groom's cake at the rehearsal dinner - it's a very common practice, especially in the South. And Florida is in the South! :cutie:

Love, Carrie

Thanks. I'll have to show this to him tonight.

I think he's being think that you're some sort of wedding goddess. We were talking about where to stay on our honeymoon and I told him about renting dvc points and even doing a split stay and he asked if that's what you did.

My son had a lovely Grooms Cake. The cake was gorgeous and VERY good!!

My DF never actually asked for one or more he didn't even know about them :rotfl: so I am surprising him with one at our rehearsal dinner.
