Hello!

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a grocery store near the UO resort? My bestie and I are heading to UO in just under a month, specifically for WWoHP. I visited for the first time last year and loved it. But to help save some money and still eat kind of healthy, we want to stop at a grocery store on our way to the hotel. We want something with good selection, but reasonably priced (read: not Whole Foods). I know some grocery store are regional so I thought I would see what you all suggest. Thanks!!

I use Publix near UO for a grocery store prior to reaching my hotel

We use a transportation service (Tony Hinds Transportation) from MCO and request a stop at the Publix near USO. We get some water, soft drinks, snacks, and breakfast stuff. There is a liquor store in the same shopping center, if you're interested in that too.

Ah yes, Publix! I'm pretty sure I've heard of them before. Are they similar to a Safeway? Thanks for the tidbit on the liquor store as well. Does Florida allow grocery stores to sell liquor as well, or just wine and beer?

Also, is the Tony Hinds a van transportation? We were thinking of taking a Lyft since it's just the two of us. But it's good to know about other options as well!

Tony has a ten passenger van

Also uses other vehicles

All at the same price

I found the Publix and liquor store by using Tony

There's also a Trader Joe's nearish now.

I don't think FL grocery stores sell actual liquor.

I don't know if the Trader Joe's location is as convenient as Publix (it might very well be, so this is not do dissuade you), but I found this on Trip Advisor when somebody asked for Publix comparison to West coast stores: "... the ones that come to mind in southern California are Ralph's, Safeway, Albertson's, Stater Bros, Von's, Food 4 Less, Winco -- are "general purpose" markets with huge supplies of everything you will need." I don't have a personal reference, because Vegas is as far west as I've been, and I don't visit supermarkets there :)

Just for a bit more info about transportation, we use Tony Hinds for transportation MCO->USO round trip. We request the Publix stop on the way to USO. Round trip is $100 (plus we tip each way) including the time at the store(s). I prefer the fixed cost, since there is always a chance of a traffic jam, and it doesn't cost more to stop at the store.

Whatever you choose to do, I'm sure you will love your visit to USO!

Compared to where I live, the prices at Publix in Orlando are high. I find WM to have best prices on 'vacation' drinks/food we need.

Last trip became a fan of Prime Now, with promotion/tip figured in, prices in same ballpark for 'heavy' cases of water/soda/iced tea and we didn't have to haul them to the resort. Nice option if you don't want to make a grocery stop. At RoYal pacific they deliver to the business center, but I was told when I called the resort in September that bell services can go and pick up the order even on the weekend/after hours.

We were in CBBR and I drove to Publix one night and they were already closed (9 pm-ish). So I spent an extra minute driving to the 24 hr Walmart. You don't have to go far to find what you are looking for.
