After loading your groceries in your cart, PLEASE RETURN THE CART TO THE PROPER PLACE!

I came out of the grocery store this evening to find a cart wedged up against the side of my car, and a nice long scratch all the way down the side, across both the back and front door panels, with one are where the paint was completely scraped off! It's not that hard to return the cart to the corral. I have never left a grocery store parking lot without returning the cart, regardless of how tired I was, if it was raining, or if I was carrying my child. Why are people so inconsiderate?

It should be a felony!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :furious:

If I return it...I think it may put somebody out of a job :(

:furious: that makes me crazy too! I work at a store with shopping carts and I can't tell you how many times I have come out of work to find more scratches on my car!! I just bought a new car last month and so far so good....I try to park either as far away from the store as I can or right next to the carriage corral. I figure that if people are right next to the corral, they are more likely to put the carriage in there, but it's not always the case. :furious:

Maybe that's how I got the scratch on my new van! Couldn't figure it out, but I'll have to pay attention to the height of the scratch and see if that's what it came from. Not that I can do anything about it, anyway, but I'm curious.

I've heard about the infamous DIS cart discussions...

Uhhh NO... we have to pay a quarter to get a cart at at my local store. You get your quarter back when you return it to the proper place.

There is still a "cart boy", that goes and collects the from the proper place.

Its not fun when so lazy shopper leaves their cart out and you end up with scratches like the OP.

oh my goodness, you have to pay to use a cart!

Good grief!!! What if you don't have any cash/coins? Do they have change for a dollar?

When I had 3 kids under the age of 5 I always appreciated those that didn't return their carts and left them securely in between the bumpers. I had trouble getting all my kids across the parking lot to a cart at the front of the store. JMHO but as long as they are somehow secured you may actually be doing someone a favor.

:confused3 What bumpers? :confused3 I am having a stroke thinking car bumpers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is exactly the reason why I am totally anal about where I park. People just don't seem to have any respect for other people's property any more. :sad2: Twice I have had to have panels resprayed due to other people's lack of consideration and care. Total bill? Around $1,500... I finally got around to getting a protected no claims insurance so at least next time I won't have to pay for it... Still, you'd think people would have the common bloody courtesy to make sure they don't damage other people's property?!?

Watch out OP because the defenders of the abandon cart practice will come out of the woodwork. There was a similar thread a while back. You wouldn't believe the excuse some came up with to explain their laziness!

You must be kidding? I do hope you are referring to something other then car bumpers. If I ever caught anyone securing their cart near my bumper I am going to securely wedge it up their rear end.

Couldn't agree more. My bumpers are painted and whenever someone scratches one it has to come off and be completely resprayed!! :furious:

I didn't realize there was another thread, but I am sorry, I don't see how there can be any excuse to leave a cart where it can roll into someone's vehicle. I am sure those same people would not be happy if it happened to them.

MoniqueU, I do grab the carts I see sitting out in the open when I have my son with me too, it is easier, but around here, none of our grocery parking lots have curb stops to put them between. They are just left in the open where the slightest bit of wind sends them on their way.

They do that at one of our local stores also. If you don't have a quarter, they will give you one to use!

It really seems to cut down on the "carts running loose" problem. :thumbsup2
