Grocery store on the way to HoJo from LGB

Hello. I have a last minute question. We have traveled from LGB to the HoJo several times, and we typically take the surface streets (Wardlaw to Ball), and I know that we pass several grocery stores, but we've never stopped at one since we usually wait and go to a store after we've checked in. This time, however, our plane lands much later than we are used to, and I'd like to stop at a store along the way. Does anyone who is local or a frequent visitor have a suggestion?

I think it is more likely you would come down Katella and there is a Food4Less and SuperKmart a mile from the resort at Katella and Euclid.

I have not been too west on Ball but didn't see any grocery stores, just gas stations within a couple miles of the resort. But a CM told me there was a Ralphs a "little" ways down.

Is Katella quicker or does it have less traffic than Ball? I am pretty sure we have used Ball previously, but this is the first time we have come in during late afternoon, and I am concerned about rush hour traffic.

Traffic is what it is at that time of day, you just have to relax and crank the radio.

I might wait until I get in closer to HoJos, there is nice Von's on Anaheim Blvd and Lincoln in DT Anaheim right next to the Anaheim Ice Rinks.

Katella probably moves faster, it is considered a "super street".

I would guess so as well. It's a bit more commercial vs residential.

If it wasn't for the grocerys store stop, it's quicker to take the Garden Grove freeway to I-5. At the Harbor Dr exit going north is an Albertsons on the right just off the freeway. If it is rush hour this may be the best option if you use the carpool lanes.

If you go across Ball, there is a Ralph's at the corner of Ball and Brookhurst. It is on the NW corner and faces Brookhurst. If you go across Katella, there is a Albertson's on the corner of Brookhurst and Katella. It is on the SW corner. There is also the Food 4 Less at Katella and Euclid (on the SE corner).

IMHO, I think Ball is faster than Katella. I used to live in Anaheim on Ball Rd near DLR and made the trip down across both several thousand times. Coming from LGB airport, you will hit less lights and traffic for the majority of the way.

Just as an update, we chose to take Ball all the way, and we stopped at the Ralph's mentioned by Chasbo. The trip was quick, no major traffic at all, and the grocery store was very convenient. We will be following the same pattern on our next trip.
