Grocery stop on Thanksgiving Day?

We're arriving at MCO around 1:30 on Thanksgiving Day. Does anyone know of a grocery, Target, or Wal-mart likely to be open until at least 3 between MCO and WDW that day? Don't need much - just sodas and cold breakfast items.

Thanks!
Dirk

Hi Dirk!

In order to get a response to your question, I'm moving this thread over to the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies board. Please check there for further replies.

Happy planning!

Thanks - I wasn't sure where this kind of planning question should go. Hope someone can give some advice!

Dirk

The Super Walmart on Vineland in Kissimmee will be open. For just soda, milk and breakfast things, I am sure some of the gas station convenience stores will be open also.

Pretty sure Publix is closed on T-Day. You can probably get what you need at the 7-11 at 535 and 536 on the way into WDW from 417. That is in a direct route from MCO to property.

There are a number of 24hr Walgreen's in the Orlando area. Walgreen's are all over the place. I know for certain there is one on I-Drive (that's 24hr). There is also a Walgreen's near the Gaylord Palms (not positive if it's 24hrs or not).

Walgreen's is fine for some minor snacks - like cereal, water, milk, chips. They won't stock lie a grocery store, but the prices aren't too bad for some items like that. We got a great deal on bottled water there a few years ago. They also had a pretty good selection of travel sized toiletries and things like travel sized laundry detergent the last time I was there - and that was before the current travel madness.

Walgreen's isn't my favorite pharmacy in the world, but it's a quick in/out for the kinds of itmes you list.

If you take the south exit out of the airport and take the Greeneway (417) to Disney, get off at Orange Blossom Trail. I'm pretty sure you will find something open on that exit.

If you want to check the Internet for hours of operations there is a Super Target to the right, and to the left there is an Albertsons and a Publix, along with numerous gas stations/7-11 type places.

Thanks for the help. It loks likes getting off at Exit 6 from 417 is the best bet.

I know the Target you recommend (off of Exit 11, right?). I'll call Albertson's to see what their hours are, but we may be just past their closing. I don't think Target will be open, but I'll check.

I think the 7-11 at 535/536 makes the most sense (I didn't think about Convenience Stores) since we only need Soda and water for the first couple of days until we move into Saratoga Springs on Saturday. Failing that, the Walgreen's in that area is 24 Hour, so we can just go down through Hotel Blvd to Pop Century.

Come to think of it - doesn't the Hess Station by Boardwalk carry those items as well? How do their prices compare to 7-11 or Walgreens?

Thanks!
Dirk

Since Hess took over the gas stations at Disney the prices have become very reasonable! Heck, i even get my gas at Disney now. Be advised, the Hess in front of the MK is closed for rehab. But yes, if you get off the Greeneway at the EPCOT exit you will go past a Wallgreens and a 7-11 before you hit property. There is even a new Hess as soon as you get off the Greeneway, but I dont think it will be open by the time you get here.

I was going to suggest the Hess stations at Disney. They are reasonably priced, even for their gas. If you go to the one at the Boardwalk, watch out for the turtles.
