I think walmart will price match a competitors ad for exactly the same item for groceries, right? How much of a hassle is this? Do you have to pay for your items then go to customer service to get a refund?

If a grocery store has their store brand of butter on sale, will walmart price match to their store brand?

Walmart will price match store brands with another store brand. You just let them before they scan the item what the price is at the other store. The ones here are getting where you have to have the ad.

Yes walmart does price match, but sometimes I feel they are being a big pain for coupons. Target is great for some things in grocery but I still like costco and sams club for meats and other things.

I think the hassle factor depends on the person waiting on you.

at my wal-mart some people are a pain with coupons while others could care less what you gave them they just deduct it.

It doesn't have to be a hassle, but as others have said, it sort of depends on your cashier. I have rarely had a problem, but when I do it is very frustrating. You do NOT have to go to customer service - they price match it at the register as you check out.

I try to keep my "ad match" items separate, like at the end of my order. I also try to have my ad(s) ready so I'm not flipping through 20 pages looking for something - I usually write on my shopping list which store and which page of the ad the item is on so I can find it quickly.

Wal-Mart does not honor what they call "gimmick" ads though - such as buy one, get one free or % off - the ad must show the actual price. If your Wal-Mart operates the way they should, you MAY just find that the items you try to price match are already on rollback for less than your competitor ad. The stores where I used to live were really good about this but the stores where I live now are terrible (in terms of rolling back their prices to beat local competitors).
