Hi everyone!

I think I want to sign up for the grocery game or try it on my own, however, my grocery store does not double coupons. Is it still worth is to use coupons or join the game?

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Thanks a bunch!

Our store (Winn Dixie) rarely doubles and it didn't work for me.

ETA: When I signed up it was a month free or something really cheap so if that is still the deal it won't hurt to try it. Just don't forget to cancel it before the date specified if it doesn't work for you. Good luck!

My store doesn't double at all. I'm still saving quite a bit and am very happy with my savings.

I agree with the previous poster and say, Try it for the 4 week $1 trial.

Be warned though, in the beginning, I didn't spend a whole lot less but I brought home a lot more food. It takes a little while for the cost to drop.

I love the GG!!

One of my list stores does double the other does not. Needless to say I do shop more at the doubling store. My non-doubling store is my needs store but I do use the list there as well!

I agree to sign up for the month trial - well worth it to me!! I really do not have the patience to read the ads and match up the coupons!! The also have a Walgreens list for free - you dont have to be a member to use it!!

Just remember in the beginning you are stockpiling so you will not see the drop in what you are paying - I do have to stay within $100 each week. Since I have been doing this for about 4 months - I am now stockpiled and last week I only paid $20 for groceries - just had to buy milk, eggs, bread and other perishables. It was great!!

However, DH wants to know who is going to use all the deodorant and toothpaste I have bought???? I asked him did he plan on not using them anymore???

THanks, I signed up for the 4 week thing.

Hopefully, we will go shopping and save money.

Normally, we go out to eat dinner every night, sometimes lunch too and sometimes all 3 meals. :sad2: but when i've compared eating out to what we spent on groceries making actual meals, it was the same, so why hassle with grocery shopping, cooking, AND cleaning.

I've been motivated by you all saving money and I am going to give it a try. Wish me luck.

One more thing: Do I use ebay and coupon places to purchase coupons? Other than the weekly Safeway flyer, I have NEVER seen a coupon in the Sunday paper.

Should I get the Contra Costa times (Local paper for my county) or the San Francisco Chronicle (Sold in my town, the actual city (SF) is 20 minutes away.

The San Francisco Chronicle and Oakland Tribune both have coupon sections in the Sunday paper. The coupons can be found with the sales ads. Some Sundays there are better coupons than others. Also, I buy both papers because the coupons are not always the same in both papers.

I just got on here, looking for grocery game info. How nice to see this thread.

I just bought a Sunday paper. It's been a long time since I clipped coupons and I don't have many. Should I wait before I sign up for a my trial period so I can gather more coupons??

Should I sign up for those coupon websites??? I used to get GOBS of coolsavings spam before and I really don't want to be inundated with unwanted emails.

How much is it after the trial period???

Thanks

The GG only uses coupons from the Sunday paper. I agree with coolsavings spam but I haven't gotten that from Boodle and Smartsource. Just an occaisional e-mail saying that new coupons are ready to print.
I wouldn't wait to get a lot of coupons before signing up. I signed up with just the coupons from the previous and the current Sunday's papers. I saved 38% my first week. Now I usually save about 65% (including having to buy a ton of milk and water each week which cuts into my saving curve!) Your savings wont be as great as when you have a complete cycle of coupons but you never know what great deals you may miss that might not come around for 12 weeks! Yesterday's paper had four insets so what a great time to start!
I have also found that the larger the city, the better the coupons. Your rules should tell you what paper to use (the rules are listed by the list page once you sign up) but if it doesn't specify, get the largest paper available to you. My SC state paper has good coupons but there are often better ones and always more in the Atlanta Ga. paper.

Thanks! I thought Sunday's paper had a lot of coupon inserts! I think I will sign up Monday, after I get two weeks worth.

I'll have to look into Boodle and smartsource. Thanks!!
